The trap card states that combat has a press automatically, usable only to continue comabt, and that this continues until three rounds pass with no Methuselahs playing cards. This brings up some questions: 1) Does the player of the card HAVE to use the available press? Combat could turn against him; is this just a chance he has to take? 2) If the victim of the trap card plays a press to cancel the existing press, does combat end right there and the 'future' presses are lost? The rules state that a press can cancel a press played to continue combat, but my opponent argues that the card is meant to guarantee a long combat. 3) Does this mean that there will always (assuming the answer to #2 is no) be three rounds combat after all cards have been exhausted when the minions in combat will just pound the crap (or blood) out of each other? I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but I'd like an outside opinion. Oh yeah... one more question: The Misdirection card: you pay X blood and X minions are tapped. Does this apply only to your prey? Does the player or the victim choose who gets tapped, or is it random (roll dice?) I'm sure I'll have more questions soon, but that's it for now. Thanks -- An optimist says the glass is half empty. A pessimist says the glass is half full. A realist wants to know what's IN the glass...

The press from Trap is not really played by either player, it just is, so either one can use a press to end combat after Trap is played. >3) Does this mean that there will always (assuming the answer to #2 is no) >be three rounds combat after all cards have been exhausted when the >minions in combat will just pound the crap (or blood) out of each other? >I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but I'd like an outside opinion. If neither player has a press card then yes you end up with a long combat. >The Misdirection card: you pay X blood and X minions are tapped. Does this >apply only to your prey? Trap doesn't guarantee long combats, it just tends to result in same. If the Trap's press is cancelled, the other minion can press to continue after all, and so on. Assuming the combat continues to another round, the Trap's "three round limit" will start from scratch, since cards were played. >3) Does this mean that there will always (assuming the answer to #2 is no) >be three rounds combat after all cards have been exhausted when the >minions in combat will just pound the crap (or blood) out of each other? Combat will continue three rounds past the last card being played, barring a vampire being sent to torpor or something. >The Misdirection card: you pay X blood and X minions are tapped. Tom, What about the Frenzy card? It says, "This round has a press only USABLE to continue combat." (emphasis added) The "usable" implies (to me) that someone (the card player?) has the OPTION of NOT using it? This card has caused some bitter feelings recently. :( -Glenn M. This card has caused some bitter feelings recently. :( It doesn't say it's optional, so it's mandatory. While the choice of "usable" is dubious, Frenzy does not say "optional press", so the press is not optional. Tom Wylie rec.games.deckmaster Network Representative for aahz@hal.com Wizards of the Coast, Inc.
