Well, not too complain, but I bought exactly TWO starter decks, and
out of 16 Vampires in each deck, TWELVE WERE EXACT DUPLICATES.
Also, the one rare in each was a duplicate.
Fortunately, my dealer, Dinah at InkSpot Books in San Jose is such a
sweetheart: she traded me my dupilcate vampires for unique ones.
Thanks Dinah!

That's interesting, because I opened 2 Starter Decks and had 152 Unique
cards......

And in two starter decks, I got only one duplicate vampire. Today I opened
a starter and four boosters, and got two duplicates. I think it's a little
ridiculous to claim (or at least imply) that the distribution for Jyhad
is hosed based on two starter decks... there *will* be starter decks with
very similar distributions, and if you happened to get two of them, oh well.

I dunno, out of the 6 starters I've opened, there seem to be a _lot_ of
patterns. If I see a Smudge, the next card is a Dimple, followed by a Lord
Sheldon. That happened in 3 packs. In each of those 3 packs, I also got a
Gitane St. Claire. Selma and Grendel (it's either Grendel or Tiberius, I keep
getting them mixed up) tend to be next to each other. If I get an Emerson
Bridges, I also get a Violette Prentiss. Jing Wei and Merril Molitor are
usually back-to-back. The decks tend to be either Tremere/Nosferatu heavy or
Ventrue/Toreador heavy. Brujah are scattered between both types (although not
the same Brujah, mind you - I always get an Uma and a Crusher in the T/N decks
and a Tura Vaughn in the V/T decks). Malks are a bit scarce in both types, and
gangrel tend to pop up more often in the V/T decks.
I'd say that 6 starters isn't really enough to say definite one way or the
other, but the 3 cards back-to-back is pretty convincing. A Dimple/Lord Sheldon
pairing also occured in a booster pack I opened.
I haven't seen that much sequencing in the library cards. I got a Saturday
Night Special followed by a Trap twice in one deck, but that's been about it.
2 of the packs duplicated the rares (Soul Stone of Etrius/Kine Dominance), but
the other library cards were different. The vamp cards in both of those decks
were of the N/T type.
Of the 6 decks & 4 boosters I've opened, I've gotten a lot of different
Nosferatu and Tremere. With the exception of the Toreador, though, I feel
that I have an adequate enough selection to play a clan-based deck, should I so
choose. Pity, as Toreador is my fave clan. ;)

Well, there has always been "clumping" in the sorting; this is not new
to Jyhad. Earth Elemental + Conversion and Black Knight + Lifeforce
are combinations I've seen fairly often, for example. When I went on my
first box-buying binge, I noticed certain other patterns in the
uncommon distribution.

Tell me about it. I hate opening up a deck and finding the last or second
to last uncommon is a Soul Net, because you _know_ a Serra Angel would have
been in the next couple cards. Also watch how close plague rats and dark
rituals show up in the common section. Was it deliberate that WotC made
it so easy to conjure up the rats by using the ritual?
One thing i can tell you is that I've had miserable luck obtaining certain
commons in Jyhad. I've opened up 5 decks and 20 boosters and have yet to
get the Master: Skill card Obfuscation. On the other hand those same
packages have given me _3_ Jackie Therman's, a rare. Go figure.

Out of a couple of hundred commons, there are 7 commons that I don't have,
and 9 that I have 6 of, and 1 that I I have 7 of. The rest are distributed
nicely around the the middle, and, it is, exactly the sort of thing that
you would expect if the distribution of the cards were random, although
some clumping would certainly throw the distribution off a bit.
Folks oughta take some statistics, and then, when things that seem
unusual and out of the ordinary happen, and when it looks like you
personally are getting shafted by unseen forces, you can rest safe
in the knowledge that you are simple experiencing "normal" statistical
variations.
Makes me feel better, even if I don't have a single "Wake With..."

A friend of mine picked up three starters yesterday. One of the ones he
opened matched *almost* card-for-card with that another pack. He put them
side by side and flipped through them simultaneously. Every fourth flip
was different, but then they'd synchronize again and the next three cards
would match exactly. Frustrating. :)
