To clarify: Dodge negates the effects of a strike, even First Strikes, no matter what they are- Damage, Steal Blood, Destroy Equipment, Send To Torpor- as long as it's not Combat Ends, right?

In article <F2Bs5...@midway.uchicago.edu>, [ quoted text not captured ] No, it only negates the effects on your vampire or ally, if the strike targets a retainer or piece of equipment, the strike still works. Also, if the strike has any negative effect on the vampire or ally making the strike (White Phosphorous Grenade, for example) the minion using the strike will still take the appropriate damage. In particular, Dodge does not alter, affect, or change what happens as a result of Strike: Combat Ends, Strike: Dodge, or a ranged attack at long range that is assigning its damage to your retainer.

It negates the opposing strike's effects on the dodging minion and any non-Retainer cards on the dodging minion. Equipment is "protected" by a dodge. > Also, if the strike has any negative effect on the vampire or ally > making the strike (White Phosphorous Grenade, for example) the minion > using the strike will still take the appropriate damage. Correct - dodge protects only the dodging minion (and any non-Retainer cards on him). -- L. Scott Johnson (vte...@wizards.com) VTES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast. Stay at close range. Or Strike to End Combat. Or send the opposing minion to Torpor or the Ash Heap with First Strike. -- L. Scott Johnson (vte...@wizards.com) VTES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast.
