Round 10 of the League took place on Wednesday Night, and now the table looks like this: Legbiter Played 9 VPs 4,1,1,5,1.5,3, 3, -,4,1 rating 3189 Mark Baxter Played 3 VPs -,-,-,-,-,1,-,-,2,1 rating 3035 John Eagles Played 7 VPs 0,3,0,0,-, 2, 0, 3,-,- rating 3030 Steve ["Squid"] Cantlow Played 7 VPs -,-,0,0,0.5, 0, 1, -,-,3 rating 2996 Robert ["Billy"] Shread Played 5 VPs 0,0,3,0,0.5, -, -, -,- ,- rating 2984 Bleu [Philippe Richer] Played 1 VPs -,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,0,- rating 2971 Anklebiter [Michael McClellan] Played 2 VPs -,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,0,0 rating 2948 John Lee Barber Played 5 VPs 0,-,-,-,0, 1, 1, 0,-,- rating 2937 Anam ["Angel"] Sheader Played 5 VPs -,0,-,1,0.5, 0, -, - ,-,0 rating 2933 Ian ["Snook"] Stubbington Played 4 VPs -,0,-,0,0.5, 0, -, - ,- rating 2930 Alex Hughes Played 4 VPs -,-,-,-,-,0, 0, 0,0,- rating 2925 [the VPs for the second game do not add up to 5 because i withdrew after ousting Ian - according to the Sabbat rules. Similarly, the VPs for round 6 do not add up to 8 because Steve withdrew, much to the annoyance of John]. Another tense and excellent game, at the end of which Steve was finally the fully-deserving winner. He had some bad luck with his crypt which was counter-balanced by a bit of good luck, when Anam [his prey] and Anklebiter [his predator] started contesting the Beast. The contest went on for quite a while, and when Anam finally yielded i immediately torporised the Beast when he had the bad taste to attack Calebos. I managed to get out 4 minions including Kendrick but the necessity to defend against relentless bleeds from mark meant i couldn't oust anyone after Michael. So in the end Mark got me, and my ante - The Barrens, which hurt, i must say! And while i'm at it here is the tournament report for Saturday's sealed deck tournament. Only 5 Methuselahs turned up for this but 3 of them have won tournaments here, one has been a regular finalist, and the fifth one was Bleu .. so this was a pretty competitive game! So much so that Michael had an Asthma attack after the first round and had to be invalided out. This encroached on our time so that in the end we only played 3 heats - no final. And the end result was: Legbiter 5.5 VPs from 3 games, rating 3073 Bleu 4.5 VP's from 3 games, rating 3061 [Anklebiter 0 VP's from 1 game, rating 2968 - retired sick] Matthew Green 1 VP from 3 games, rating 2949 Pierre Rebstock 1 VP from 3 games, rating 2944 So i won an Ankh thingy in a pretty box. Here is my winning deck as it stood after the last round, and it is not very "me" - i had the combat cards in my boosters, but no vamps to play 'em. Still, i enjoyed the excursion to the shores of stealth-bleed, and it gave me a CRACKING Deck idea, for which see below. RETAINER [1] Raptor And here's the idea. I relies on strict interpretation of DCI floor rules for VTES. In principle, it gives a guaranteed unblockable oust by sequential actions of two vampires. The vamps: Yong-Sun, harmonist Imogen The actions: 1. Yong-Sun burns the top vamp of your prey's crypt. At lots of stealth or unblockably, if you like. 2. Imogen moves the burned vamp to your prey's hand. At lots of stealth or unblockably, if you like. Your prey is now in breach of DCI floor rules because s/he has a vamp in his/her hand, and is immediately disqualified. You gain a VP, proceed to repeat the trick on the rest of the hapless table, and become the target of everyone's undying contempt, hatred and awe, for ever and ever, amen. I could have done this, twice, on Saturday. But i didn't DARE. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Learn what you don't.

Only library cards can be exchanged by Imogen's ability. [LSJ 1999-MAY-25] > Your prey is now in breach of DCI floor rules because s/he has a vamp in > his/her hand, and is immediately disqualified. ? What part of the floor rules would that violate (if it were allowable)? AFAIK, The floor rules make no special restriction on the hand (except that it must be kept above the table). -- LSJ (vte...@wizards.com) VTES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast. You'd have to get the vampire into their Library for them to be in violation of a rule. Even if the violation were deemed worthy of an ejection, there is no guarantee that the judge would award a VP to the ejected player's predator. An ejection is not the same thing as an ousting. -- Robert Goudie, Chairman rrgo...@earthlink.net Vampire: Elder Kindred Network http://madnessnetwork.hexagon.net _________________________________________________________________ The Official Vampire: the Eternal Struggle Players Organization

This is less likely to happen in a game, but how about: Imogen, (clan impersonated to Malkavian) a MadNet, a fortitude master on Imogen, and lots of Freak Drives. Assuming NRA doesn't hamper this, move a useless card to your prey's hand, untap. Wait until the end of the next Methuselah's minion phase, repeat. It would be nice to have the Rack and a hunting ground for Imogen, but as long as you could move cards to your prey's hand faster than he/she could discard them-- that would be amusing. OK, I take it back. The rulebook tells you to separate your crypt and library cards but makes no mention of a requirement to keep them separate. [ quoted text not captured ]
