Suppose an Ilomba is on Byzar.
Some effect would burn Byzar.
a - Does Ilomba's cardtext get triggered? That is: Would a retainer on
a vampire be burned "at the same time" the vampire would be burned?
In my example, Byzar had 0 torpor counter. He diablerizes someone with
no blood when having 0 blood himself, and the blood hunt referendum
would burn him.
b -He probably ends up in torpor, but is it with 1 or with 2 counters?
(is it someone's choice?)

Animal with 1 life. Requires a Laibon.
Put Ilomba on any minion (this is a +1 stealth (D) action if that
minion is controlled by another Methuselah). If Ilomba would burn a
life (or would otherwise be burned), this minion burns a blood or life
instead. If he or she cannot, he or she is burned. A minion may have
only one Ilomba.

One.
The blood hunt referendum passes, so he would be burned, so he gets a
counter and goes to torpor instead.
There's nothing to activate Ilomba's text, so the presence of Ilomba
doesn't come into play in the question.

Byzar has Retainer X or Equipment X.
Byzar is burned by Effect Y.
Does Retainer/Equipment X go to the ashheap as Byzar gets burned OR
does Byzar's text preserve the Equipment/Retainer X as well?

The answer is: Byzar doesn't burn, he's sent to torpor. Equipment /
Retainers / cards on him that aren't burned when he is sent to torpor
aren't burned.
