I have been told in tournament that the way it is played now, you can again play the same type of action modifier after it has been "directed" ; for instance, if you added a conditionning, or played a Burning Wrath, and someone plays a DI, you can play the same card again. Is it true ? Does it allow for repeat action ? -- Orfeo Giovanni, the Traitor 8 Cap, Sabbat DOM / OBT / NEC / Obf Orfeo gets -1 intercept against Lasombra ; + 1 bleed against the controller of any ready Giovanni. ------------ VTES french forum : news://news.zoo-logique.org/VTES-francophone http://no.exit.free.fr (onlive novel) http://cypheranima.free.fr (goth band)

IIRC, DI prevents you from playing the same action modifier, but other cards that are not restricted to one per action are not affected. Thus, if you DI my Conditioning, I may not play another Conditioning. If you DI my Burning Wrath, I can play another one, since that strike was cancelled, and there are no restrictions on playing more than one of the same combat card in combat. If you DI my Govern the Unaligned, the action is cancelled, and I can Govern the Unaligned again, because I never completed that action (and thereby am not "tainted" by NRA). Then again, IANALSJ. Yes that is correct. Whatever minion card it was, it was still *played*, so it counts against the action modifier or reaction limit (and also card text limit, such as with Carrion Crows or Ancient Influence). >Thus, if you DI my Conditioning, I may not play another Conditioning. >If you DI my Burning Wrath, I can play another one, since that strike was >cancelled, and there are no restrictions on playing more than one of the same >combat card in combat. >If you DI my Govern the Unaligned, the action is cancelled, and I can Govern >the >Unaligned again, because I never completed that action (and thereby am not >"tainted" by NRA). Yeppers. With most other combat cards (those without a limitation), you can just play another copy. And since NRA occurs at resolution (which isn't reached due to DI), you aren't tainted, as Xian said. Halcyan 2 P.S. We missed you at the Chicago Tourney Christian. You should have come! There was free stuff up the wazoo! =)

Wrong DI does not count against NRA so the card is canceled which means you can play the same action modifier again as well as the same reaction card. > > >Thus, if you DI my Conditioning, I may not play another Conditioning. > >If you DI my Burning Wrath, I can play another one, since that strike was > >cancelled, and there are no restrictions on playing more than one of the same > >combat card in combat. > >If you DI my Govern the Unaligned, the action is cancelled, and I can Govern > >the > >Unaligned again, because I never completed that action (and thereby am not > >"tainted" by NRA). > > > Yeppers. Correct the card is canceled so treat it as never being played although I'm not sure about cards that are only playable once per game though since a suddened Giants Blood is also treated as played. (snipette) > Wrong DI does not count against NRA so the card is canceled which > means you can play the same action modifier again as well as the same > reaction card. Utterly False. +First : NRA only concerns action & action cards. If you DI an action card, the action never reached resolution, so the NRA doesn't kick in. You are free to play the same action card if you have another one in hand. +Two : When an action modifier or reaction card has been played, it has been played. But it just had no effect, and the blood is not spent. You cannot play the same again. So if someone plays a Day Operation and you DI it, he cannot play a second Day Operation. He can still play Daring the dawn if he has one. Understood ? > > Yeppers. With most other combat cards (those without a limitation), you can > > just play another copy. > Correct the card is canceled so treat it as never being played Utterly False Again !! The card is treated as having been played. But with no effect. Hear this : if you immortal grapple one of my presence monkeys, i can play D.I. on the immortal grapple. You cannot play a second one right away because you can play only one immortal grapple per round, as written on the card. So my presence monkey is free to play majesty and untap =) that's why D.I is so powerful !! Obedience ? No ! Elder impersonation ? No ! Telepathic Misdirection ? No ! Drawing out the beast ? No ! [ quoted text not captured ] Who is indeed right, this is covered in the FAQ ( definition of "played" ). A card cancelled is still considered played but it's text does not take effect. In the IG example, even though that text of the first IG doesn't take effect it's still considered played and the text on the second IG prevents it from being played. "a vampire may only play one Immortal Grapple per round".

Close enough. Actually, it is the rules on action modifiers, not DI, that prevents you from playing the same action modifier. > Thus, if you DI my Conditioning, I may not play another Conditioning. (DJ.Mik) asked: >I throw a vote, I use Awe, I use Voter Cap. In response >to this you Iron Heart and I can't play another Voter Cap. ? Right. You cannot play Iron Heart until the action modifier is played. Once it has been played, you cannot play another of the same name. You can never play two action modifiers of the same name by the same minion on the same action. Definition of action modifiers, 1.6.3.2 of the online rulebook. http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/rulebook/ "A minion cannot play the same action modifier more than once during a single action."
