At our weekly game last night, one of the players performed a first in our group. Earlier in the night, this methusaleh had gained two master actions a turn, to set up this trick: In the active region were Carlotta Giovanni and Democritus (with a Soul Gem). The first master action was to minion-tap Democritus for all ten blood. The second master action was to play Golconda on Democritus to burn him and collect another ten blood. The Soul Gem was given to the top vamp in his crypt who immediately became active. Next.....Carlotta took an action to pull Democritus out of the ash heap, and place him in the active region also. Democritus then took an action to retreive the Soul Gem from its current owner. The net result was: a cost to Democritus of nine blood; an addition of 20 pool; and a 'free' vampire from the crypt. Carlotta later retreived Golconda from the ash head, and this trick was attempted again. But it didn't work as well since opponents saved Sudden-Reversals to prevent it. *********** The North Dallas Methusalehs ***********

If I remember correctly, burned vampires do not go to the ashheap. Even if they do, Carlotta's ability would put the vampire in your hand, where there is no defined ability to do anything with a crypt card. If you were to use Gaspare Giovanni, I think you would be much better off. He can return burned vampires to the top of your crypt. > The net result was: a cost to Democritus of nine > blood; an addition of 20 pool; and a 'free' > vampire from the crypt. Actually, the net result was an addition of ten pool. You had to spend 10 to get the original Democritus out in the first place. Still 10 pool from only 2 master cards and an action is pretty good. > Carlotta later retreived Golconda from the ash head, > and this trick was attempted again. Once you had one of them in play, add a skill card to the Soul Gem carrier. Minion Tap/Golconda. Get out a new, random vampire. Gaspare Giovanni retrieves one of the big 10 when you get the other one. At this point, you can cycle through a 3 turn Net gain of 21 pool, every three turns. 1: Skill card to 10 pt. (who already has SG of Etrius), Carlotta retrievs Golconda, Gaspare Retrieves other 10 pt (they lose 1 and 2 blood respectively. 2. Minion Tap to (now) 11 pt. Carlotta and Gaspare hunt (or otherwise recover their blood. 3. Golconda. This can be shortened with an Anson or Rumors of Gehenna. Seduction comes in _very_ handy to pull this off, and don't forget that Carlotta has obfuscate. This could also be done with a Giovanni/Malkavian deck. Thanks. I wasn't sure if they went to the ash heap, but C'est La vie. The possession might make things go a little more quickly, but at less pool gain. However, when we're talking about 10 pool over two turns or 21 pool over three, who can complain? :) I think it might be fun to make the Soul Gem/Golconda deck with Carlotta and all Giovanni. If I can get some of the rares, why not? :) [ quoted text not captured ]

Burned vampires are in the ash heap just like any other burned card. However, Carlotta specifies that she can only retrieve library cards from the ash heap, so has no way of getting back vampires such as Democritus. Try Possession. Problems were not enough Golcandas but now with sacrificial lamb I hope to be able to try this someday. Rory

This is similar to the Goodnight Sweet Prince / Possession loop, Possession is a wanker card. No damn good in real life, but if you do nasty loops with it, you get free stuff, which is bad. > > Carlotta later retreived Golconda from the ash head, > > and this trick was attempted again.
