Vampire with Perfectionist takes an action to enter combat with another minion. This action is unblocked an no reactions are played. Much mayhem ensues with the acting vampire ready at the end of combat. When does Perfectionist blood gain kick in? I believe it's after the combat because the action (combat) has not resolved until the combat is over. Thanks in advance, Jeff

[ quoted text not captured ] ...and I would say that it is before combat, because the action was successful to "enter combat". Parallel, all costs for a successful action must be paid when the action succeeds. You pay for the Red List rush prior to combat. Comments Welcome, Norman S. Brown, Jr XZealot Archon of the Swamp

[ quoted text not captured ] Correct. The resolution of the action is the combat.

Well, it must be determined if the action is successful or not prior to resolution in order to figure out which resolution (the action's effect or block combat) will occur, yes. But the resolution of a Computer Hacking is the bleed (not the "I don't block" statements that precede it). Likewise, the resolution of a Bum's Rush is the combat. > Parallel, all costs for a successful action must be paid when the > action succeeds. You pay for the Red List rush prior to combat. Costs must be paid in order to resolve the action, yes. So costs must be paid prior to resolution. Perfectionist says that the blood is gained after resolution, however. So, for Bum's Rush (in which the resolution is combat), that means after combat.

[ quoted text not captured ] I just thought of a corner case but could be worth noting. What would happen if Vamp A (with Perfectionist) rushed Vamp B. Vamp B attempted to block, Vamp A plays Faceless Nigh Sup causing Vamp B to remain tapped at the end of the action. combat occurs. After combat Vamp B plays Cat's Guidance inf to untap. Does Vamp A get the blood still? I would think that Cat's Guidance would be played in the same window as the Perfectionist blood kicks in.

Was the action blocked? If yes, then no Perfectionist blood. If no, then Cats' Guidance cannot be played.

[ quoted text not captured ] You have to successfully block before you can play Cats' Guidance. Later, ~Rehlow

[ quoted text not captured ] So Cats' Guidance is not a good choice. How about: Cardinal Sin: Insubordination Reaction Requires a ready Archbishop, Priscus or Cardinal. Only usable after a combat involving this vampire and a non-titled Sabbat vampire; only usable if the opposing vampire is ready. Usable by a tapped vampire. The opposing vampire goes into torpor. Non-titled Sabbat Vamp P with Perfectionist successfully acts to enter combat with Cardinal C. At end of combat, both vampires are ready. Cardinal C plays CS:I. Does P gain blood and when? I'd have to venture that C being allowed to play CS:I in the first place means the action isn't fully resolved. So Perfectionist wouldn't trigger in this case. Jeff

Most likely P gained a blood after resolving combat (before C could play CS:I), given the timing rules.
