Nice BB card!
Is that the "tap" that is required of the primary Bro in combat met by
the same "tap" that happens as a result of a successful block or an
action?

Sweet! More copies of Absorb the Mind! Score!
Free Fight... was the name Tag Team taken up by another card then?
I like the potential over kill factor though.

I have BB1 and I've got this Free fight up and running. BB1 throws,
say, dragons breath, agg to all, I don't prevent, but my opponent does.
I'm on my way to torpor, so a new BB comes in to fight. Where are we in
the combat resolution? Strike resolution? Moved on to declare
additional strikes? press step?

Combat continue uninterrupted.
You've just finished one strike resolution phase. Next up generally
comes gaining additional strikes.
[ quoted text not captured ]
I guess so. There's some odd wording, but you're probably right, assuming
the GoI isn't blocked.
I don't really get this card (Free Fight). Seems weaker than Coordinate
Attacks. Coordinate Attacks gets me around s:ce while Free Fight does
not. With Free Fight, I'm tapping minions that I don't necessarily need
to tap (what of my original guy torporizes the opposing minion?). In
order to switch combatants with Free Fight, I have to either lose my guy
to torpor or choose to swap before range. Coordinate Attacks works
whenever combat ends. Could be my guy got beat up. Could be I couldn't
stop a s:ce. Could be I ran out of presses before the other guy ran out
of blood. Seems like a better card.
So what's the advantage of Free Fight?

Here's a scenario.
My empty Blood Brother hunts. If you want to block, I'll slap a Free
Fight down and swap in the Blood Brother with full blood, nasty
equipment, etc.. and unlike Coordinate Attacks, you don't get to even
try to thump my empty guy into torpor before facing the next one.
Unlike Coordinate, it's a good way to protect one of your BBs when he's
feeling a bit vulnerable.

Off the top of my head, I see two:
- At superior it gives presses instead of a single maneuver. In some
decks this could turn to be an advantage.
- It continues the same combat, so things the opponent could use "once
each combat" (from IR Googles to Flak Jacket to whatever its special
does) cannot be used again. A single Flak Jacket can ruin your
prevent/Coordinate/punch for 1/Disarm strategy, per example. With Free
Fight it does not.
But they're fringe benefits, I must admit. Generally I'd go for
Coordinate and just a couple of Free Fights, just for the fun. We must
admit, it's a thematically cool card.

Since the text lacks "Playable by another minion not involved in the
combat", I doubt Mylan will ever be able to play it as a Blood Brother

Perhaps, I'm misreading it. But my understanding is that it's like a
Malleable Visage type effect. In other words, my non-acting vampire can
play the Free Fight and jump in on the action.

As noted above, it lacks any "playable by a non-combatant" text.
[ quoted text not captured ]
Well... Malleabe Visage is an action modifier, not a combat card, and
explicitly says that it can (and in fact must be) played by a ready
untapped vampire when an ally (or vampire, at superior) you control is
blocked.
As far as I know, combat cards cannot be played by any vampire not
involved in the combat since the rulebook does not allow it. So
explicit text in the card is needed for such an effect, which Free
Fight lacks (compare to Octopod which says "Requires a ready Blood
Brother of the same circle as another one in combat. Can be used by a
vampire even if he or she is not involved in the combat.")

Combat cards can only be played by a minion in Combat - so a minion of
yours has to get into combat first, and then that same minion has to
play the card. Once it's been played, then you can tap other BBs to get
involved in the combat.

What about effects like Fists of Death and Torn Signpost? Does each of
the BB's benifit from its effect or just the one who happened to be in
combat at the time it was played?

The latter.
Torn Signpost: "This vampire..."
Fists of Death: "This vampire..."
[ quoted text not captured ]
Now repeat. BB1 strikes, oposing strikes, we're both ok. BB1 gets
additional(s) and then spits agg, sends self to torpor. BB2 jumps in
(cause Oposing minion prevented or something)... can BB2 get additional
additionals?
~SV
[ quoted text not captured ]
Never mind... Just wasting bandwidth (rule book says you can only
generate (gain) additional strikes after the first pair of strikes
resolve... unless BB1 goes to torpor sometime after declaring the
generation of additional strikes, but before the declaration of those
additionals, I don't see how his is going to effect BB2s lack of
ability to gain additionals outside of the normal ONLY AFTER FIRST PAIR
IS ANNOUNCED window... man. headache).
There goes my BB multi strike fleet.

Free Fight Rules Questions - please confirm.
#1. Multiple Free Fights can be played, correct? So if I only have a
single Blood Brother, I can play 7 Free Fights before range is
determined in order to get 7 optional presses for that combat.
#2. Ilse (acting) is in combat with Tom. Ilse plays Free Fight and also
chooses Jack. Tom plays Free Fight and also chooses Terry. During
strike resolution Ilse strikes for 8 and Tom strikes for 6 so both go
to torpor. The acting player chooses Jack to continue combat.
A. As the acting vampire, Jack may play a Decapitate or Amaranth to
burn Tom before the other player has a chance to sub-in Terry, correct?
B. Jack however may not play Pulled Fangs or Disarm since he did
not inflict any of the damage (it was Ilse). Correct?
#3. How do we determine which cards affect the combat (and thus are
effective regardless of which Free Fighter is chosen) and which ones
only affect a specific vampire? For example, Drawing out the Beast
states "During this combat, opposing vampire gets +1 strength, but he
or she cannot use maneuvers to maneuver to long range, cannot use
presses to end combat and cannot use equipment." Is this targeting the
combat or the specific opposing vampire? How about Carrion Crows?
#4. Corner-case but: You play Free Fight at superior. Even though you
can only initially select vampires you control for Free Fight, Free
Fight could possibly end up giving an optional press to an opposing
minion (which could very well be used to your detriment!), correct?
(And yes, I have carefully read the card!).

Conversely, LSJ, suppose a CI'd-to-Blood-Brother Ian Forrestal enters
combat with a minion and plays Free Fight, tapping Angelo, then plays
Carrion Crows, Darkness Within and Weather Control. Angelo then tags
in. The Crows, Darkness and WC are all still active, yes? And if Angelo
had the relevant disciplines, he could play a second one of any or all
of these, yes?
Assuming Ian took a damage from Weather Control, would Angelo also have
to take a damage from the Weather Control? If it was a Blood Brother
with retainers tagging in to a WC'd combat, would the retainers have to
take damage?

So you tap a BB with Temptation for Free Fight, then the Temptation
controller burns the counters to untap and take control of the BB, then
before range you choose that BB to become "the combatant"...does it
replace your minion in combat? Your opponent's minion? Either, by your
whim?
That's one crazy scenario, all right.
Ok... If I get my Blood Brother's with ANI.... I can play more then
1 Carrion Crows, and they would stack.... Right?
Carrion Crows
Type: Combat
Requires: Animalism
Only usable before range is chosen.
[ani] Opposing minion takes 1R damage each round of combat during
strike resolution. A vampire can only play 1 Carrion Crows each combat.
[ANI] As above, but with 2R damage.
Even Weather Control should work, right?
Weather Control
Type: Combat
Requires: Thaumaturgy
Only usable before range is determined on the first round.
[tha] Both combatants and each of their retainers take 1 damage before
range is determined each round. This damage cannot be prevented. A
vampire can play only 1 Weather Control each combat.
[THA] As above, but the amount of damage inflicted increases by 1 in
each subsequent round.
Which would be cool would be
Darkness Within
Type: Combat
Requires: Obtenebration
Cost: 1 blood
[obt] Put this card into play before range is determined. Once each
round, during strike resolution, move 1 blood (or life) from the
opposing minion to this card (even at long range). Burn this card when
combat ends. This vampire gains half of the blood (rounded up) from
this card when it is burned. A minion can play only one Darkness Within
each combat.
[OBT] As above, with an optional maneuver.
Ok, only 1 BB would be able to gain the blood, but it's stealing
blood... And the opposing vampire can't prevent it at al or be immune
to it. Probably some other stuff I can think of... Probably have to
do alot more work... =/

Correct.

Just go by card text. If it says "the opposing vampire", then that's
what it means.

You'd have to have control of one of the chosen ones snatched
away during combat and then somehow have that stolen vampire
enter (perhaps by another FF played by the opposing BB of the
same circle). But sure.

Yes. (Why muddy the issue with Ian and Angelo? Just use "BB with the
appropriate Disciplines" to make you questions clearer.)

WC is only applied once each round, by card text.

Anybody else notice that "Abombwe" is the first card listed in the library
preview? Sounds like a discipline master to me.
Does this mean that the BL disciplines are going to get discipline masters?
Or does it mean that Abombwe is joining the ranks of Celerity, Auspex, etc.
as a "core" discipline?
I sure hope it's the former, but I fear it's the latter.

I would suspect the former has more grounds upon which to be feared
than the latter.

From the preview in the White Wolf magazine, the "Laibon" vampires have an
additional stat called "Aye" that tracks the Ebony Kingdom version of...
humanity, I think. Anyway, I suspect you would probably have to have a
certain level of Aye to be eligible for the Abombwe discipline card, or more
likely, the vampire may need to be a "Laibon" vampire.
These are just guesses, of course...
Actually, here's the article that talks about these concepts:
http://anarch.co.uk/set15_lb.php
Cheers,
WES
Although I'm very unimpressed by the new SAN card (Coordinate Attacks
was quite sufficient, and really didn't see that much play, tapping is
always bothersome) I'm really happy to see that there's an Abombwe
skill card (not one more skilless discipline !), and I find it both
funny and nice to have a blurred version of the whole previews, with
all the speculations it entails.
Nice job guys.

Hah. Beat you by 30 minutes. :)
Too bad Ian doesn't really have all those inferior disciplines...using
him with Gestalt would be really funny.
