I havent been able to find this anywhere, but i think i read somewhere that if i draw a vampire i already control when i "use" the soul gem (the wearer is burned) then the new vampire is "burned" before entering play and i draw another one and check if its younger. If it is then its put into play with the soul gem on it. Am i right or should i stop eating purple mushrooms?? Soul gem only says that its placed at the campire if it comes into play, so when does the newly contesting vamp burn?? Before or after soul gem checks for a valid bearer? -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG

Whenever you are forced to contest a card with yourself, you instead burn the incoming copy. If, however, the drawn vampire that you already control is not older, then it is just put into the uncontrolled region. It doesn't try to make you self-contest there, so the self-contest stuff doesn't apply. > Soul gem only says that its placed at the campire if it comes into play, > so when does the newly contesting vamp burn?? When Soul Gem's effect goes off, you draw the next vampire off the top of your crypt; if it's younger than the vampire that had Soul Gem, it comes into play with Soul Gem; if coming into play means it will contest with a vampire you already control, it is then burned, and Soul Gem's effect goes off again.
