Introduction: These last few months have been rather grim. The war that Konstantin has not brought us the most fortunate of circumstances. If we were a persecuted clan before, it is a hundred fold worse now. While we have secured Montreal and Toronto, we have resources to draw upon and we go into battle with crude weapons fashioned from wood and plastic. Were it not for our ability to enhance the effectiveness of these weapons with illusions, we would all have perished long ago. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Exerpt from the Narrative of the Groundhog's Day Massacre While the reporters were setting up to record the festivities in Punxsutawney 75 miles away, Sarisha Veliku was engaging Alvaro, the Archbishop of Pittsburgh, in combat for the second time that night. She had earlier given him the bum's rush in the middle of the street as he got out of a limo. Despite being pecked at by a flock of carrion crows, he managed to dodge the shots from the two assault rifles she had leveled at him. Had he known that in reality, she was only shooting at him with a single zip gun, a crude pistol carved from wood and plastic, he might not have bothered. In any event, he disappeared into the shadows beyond her reach. Having earlier uncovered his haven, she merely awaited his arrival and this time he had no defenses prepared. She had created the illusion of his estate burning down around him and he began to frenzy from terror. Unable to defend himself, she blasted him with the zip gun and illusions again while the carrion crows attacked. As he crashed to the ground, she set on him and drained the rest of his vitae, but did not destroy him. She wanted him to be a warning to the Sabbat. Meanwhile, in other parts of the city, Lazar Dobrescu and Salbatore Bokkengro were leaving similar warnings. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Card of the Month: Mass Reality Well, this month features the one card in the game that makes Zip Gun worth playing. All other clans have to be satisfied with 1R damage. Well, the Ravnos can not only get enough Mass Reality cards in play to make an Assault Rifle look wimpy in comparison, but they can use Terror Frenzy to make sure the opponent stays at long and doesn't use that Assault Rifle or Leather Jacket. I initially had planned on using Mass Reality with Wooden Stakes, but found that getting the stakes was either too unwieldy (an equip action) or too expensive (Horrid Reality). Zip Guns turned out to be much each easier to use. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Deck of the Month: Another Mass Reality of Zip Guns Lasombra's web site already has a deck called "The Mass Reality of Zip Guns," (http://lasombra.tripod.com/zip_reality.htm) but I wanted to do something a little more focussed. Since the Ravnos only have one way of dealing with S:CE...keep attacking them until they run out. That's why Freak Drive is extremely important. If you don't get them with the Bum's Rush, Freak Drive and get them with the Haven Unconvered. One caveat, this deck hasn't yet been tested, so when I built the deck I stole some from Lasombra's deck and some from Peter Bakija's Potence Weenie rush combat deck. I've got 12 Bum's Rush cards and 5 Haven Uncovered cards. I might shave a few off of the Bums Rush and Carrion Crows if I find that I need more damage prevention, but if ranged damage isn't used very often, you probably won't need it. As it is, the Skin of Night will at least keep your vampires from being burned or nailed by a Dawn Op/Skin of Night/Weather Control combo. If I find that, as usual, the blood costs of cards are a bit high (big suprise there), I'll try to fit in some Masochism cards to make the Zip Gun damage work for me. Anyway, here it is: --Vampires (12) Lazar Dobrescu (x2) Salbatore Bokkengro (x2) Vaclav Petalengro (x2) Sarisha Veliku (x2) Joaqunia Amaya (x2) Natalia Konstantin, Baro of the Caravan --Library (90) --Master Cards (14) Haven Uncovered (x5) Fame (x2) Inbase Discotek, Frankfurt Park Hunting Ground Powerbase: Montreal Blood Doll (x4) --Actions (20) Mass Reality (x8) Bum's Rush (x12) --Action Modifiers (7) Freak Drive (x7) --Reactions (10) Cats' Guidance (x5) Wake with Evening's Freshness (x5) --Combat Cards (39) Carrion Crows (x7) Terror Frenzy (x8) Taste of Vitae (x8) Skin of Night (x6) Zip Gun (x10) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Next month will feature a Ravnos version of the Gangrel Juggernaut deck as I show that the Ravnos are capable of being a decent bleed deck without losing tons of blood in the process. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- If you want to send me deck ideas or other comments and questions, feel free to e-mail me at dhar...@yahoo.com. I would also enjoy reading feedback on usenet. Of course, the one problem they still have is Strike: Combat Ends, but judicious use of Terror Frenzy will help there. Roll on new "anti"-S:CE cards in Final Nights. Actually, toying with it thematically, Chimerstry strikes me as a useful discipline to be able to do anti-S:CE, with beguiling illusions etc. You try and Majesty me, you actually Majesty my puppet illusion. Huzzah! Punch and Judy Combat Chimerstry 1 blood For the remainder of combat, all cards providing a Strike: Combat Ends effect cost an additional blood to play. (S) As above, but they cost an additional two blood to play. Cool. Potentially: Turn x) 1) Equip Pier 13 2) Freak Drive 3) Equip Stake 4) (Influence) Equip Stake Turn x+1) 1) Equip Stake 2) Freak Drive 3) Rave 4) (Influence) Equip Stake (Yes, folks, that was four Stakes on four vampires, using up only one vampire's actions! Buy now, get one free!) Wash, rinse, etc. Needs a blood supply to the vampire concerned in order to do it (but since you aren't playing Chimerstry, the Ravnos aren't spending *quite* so much blood). Since you're using Fortitude, here, though, you could always drop in a Restoration for fun. Hmm.... what does that score on the Path of Fun? Dave? Tom? Anyone? You can even use Fata Morgana to help you get extra stealth on any given action. (But then you are using Chimerstry....) You have Salbatore Bokkengro (4) with CHI for (though FOR chi would be better, and I still want a vampire with ANI chi or something, not that it's so much use here). -- James Coupe | PGP Key 0x5D623D5D Standard disclaimers apply to this post. I'm not sure how Terror Frenzy will help since the superior causes them to burn an extra blood to play a card, not increase the cost of playing it. Which means that a vampire empty of blood can still play Catatonic Fear for full effect. The best way that I've found that Ravnos can deal with S:CE is by hitting them over and over again until they run out. Hence, Freak Drive comes in real handy here. If you haven't killed them with the Bums Rush, Freak Drive and hit them with the Haven Uncovered. > Turn x) > 1) Equip Pier 13 > 2) Freak Drive > 3) Equip Stake > 4) (Influence) Equip Stake > Turn x+1) > 1) Equip Stake > 2) Freak Drive > 3) Rave > 4) (Influence) Equip Stake > > (Yes, folks, that was four Stakes on four vampires, using up only one > vampire's actions! Buy now, get one free!) Pier 13 is certainly nice, but it is unique and that makes it difficult to rely on. When possible, I try to avoid having the weak link in a deck be a unique library card. Putting enough copies in a deck to get one early also causes me to run the risk of getting a hand full of them later. I'd have to build in a fair amount of card cycling (Dreams, Barrens, etc.) in order to keep it from biting me in the ass. Regards, Noal [ quoted text not captured ]

Is it legal to "Equip" the Pier (which turns into a location after being equiped), Freak Drive and then try to "Equip" again but this time for an equipment item? It sounds like a you are trying to perform duplicate actions with the same minion. Which if we are following tournament standards is not legal. Am I incorrect on this? Or is equipping a 38 Special different than trying to equip a Laptop Computer? Michael Eichler Prince of Ramstein -- Worry comes from the belief you are powerless. To block the action to remove the Mass Reality that begins at zero stealth. You are going to be rushing vampires as much as you can, but anyone across the table can come to get your MRs just to help cycle their hand. You want to discourage this behaviour by being able to Wake / Block / Untap. Carpe Noctem. And these 5 wakes with just 5 +1 "i hope, depending on sup. an" intercept reactions don't seem a real counterpart. By the way you can try. [ quoted text not captured ]

I suspect the Crows >might do more harm than the Zip Guns. Speaking of Mass Reality/Zip Gun decks, I've been thinking and planning to do one for quite a while. A Toreador version with auspex/celerity and add chimerstry skill cards. Basically a gun intercept deck. The only Chimerstry cards are Mass Reality, a few Horrids, and then Veiled Sight (awesome for intercept decks). The celerity makes the zip guns even nastier. The intercept aspect defends against the (D) actions. Stealth is still a problem (Alacrity? Grand Ball? Aching Beauty to discourage?), as is blood. Still in the planning stages...but I'm sure I'll get around to it SOMEDAY.... Halcyan 2
