During a game last night I attempted to show a card to another player. This action was over-ruled by another player who said it was not legal to show cards. Another of the guys said that Magic specifically banned showing cards to other players. Well, I played Magic a long time and never saw that rule. And I don't remember seeing it in Jyhad. My thought is for the game to have intrigue and diplomacy players should be able to pass notes, show cards, etc. Maybe even trade cards (although I think that is a special ability of one card I have seen.) Anyone have any thoughts? Or official rulings? Andrew

I agree with you. I think you should play Jyhad/Magic for fun not to WIN WIN WIN. Even if you are playing for ante you should just go with the flow. I never saw a strict rule on showing/not showing your cards to other players. This is something your playing group should figure out at the start of the session. Which way is more fun for you? I think it's assumed for card games in general that you aren't allowed to show the contents of your hand to other players... it is not a rule that would be specific to Deckmaster games. Would you allow people to show each other their hands in poker? Hearts? WizWar? Probably not, but I doubt many if any of these games explicitly say you can't do so. If you want to allow it in Jyhad that's fine, but I would say the default should be that sharing hand information is not allowed. Actually WizWar has a rule that you can trade/show cards with any player who is in line of sight. There are also cards that lets you see another players hand (like in MtG). One thing different about Jyhad is that it is not like poker and hearts. It's a social game that encourages interaction between players. A good house rule might be that you can discuss strategies/show cards/etc. as a +0 stealth action. If someone playing doesn't want it to happen, then they can block. Jeff

Things like voting tend to encourage polotical alliances, although they also end because in the end your allies always become your prey. So its a calculated "how long can I help him before it becomes dangerous" issue anytime you work with someone. Also, games like Hackers allow trading cards among players and conferences, etc. > A good house rule might be that you can discuss strategies/show cards/etc. > as a +0 stealth action. You can do anything in the conference with your hand (not your crypt or uncontrolled vampires). The only restriction is you have to start with 7 cards and end with 7 cards. I think this kind of optional rule would move Jyhad from being less like a card game and closer to an RPG/strategy game. And from the rules this sounds like what WOTC might want. Andrew
