In the FAQ it says the following... When does my vampire heal itself with stolen blood? The example in the book I got in my card pack is confusing. The example in the rules prior to this Duelist Companion rules' release refers to an early conception of the rules. The example is in error. Stolen blood can immediately heal a vampire. This may prevent a vampire's going into torpor on the strike phase during which it stole the blood, as long as the vampire striking it does not do enough "first strike" damage to send it into torpor. In that case, the vampire attempting to steal blood is con- sidered to have not even gotten the opportu- nity to steal blood before being sent to tor- por. The above response implies that vampires go into torpor *immediately*. If you first strike a vampire using aggravated damage then it goes into torpor before it can even strike back. This is all fine and makes sense but my question is: How can a vampire ever take *excess* aggravated damage if it is sent into torpor immediately? Are there special cards that do *excess* aggravated damage? Also, note that a strike that does aggravated damage does not cause loss of blood (15.1 Resolve Strike, pa2), unless it is doing excess aggravated damage. This means that the damage numbers on cards that do aggravated damage are pointless unless the card is doing excess aggravated damage (and I can't see how this is accomplished). -- Roberto Ullfig - ullfig@fnrobo.fnal.gov

The Sengir Dagger is a fine way to do lots of aggravated damage. Any increases in damage are also aggravated. Rob

Are there special cards that do *excess* aggravated damage? excess agrivated damage is when a vampire does more than one hand damage. The first point of hand damage is considerted aggrivated and the rest go against the vampire's blood. Also weapons like flame thrower do 2r aggrivated damage which would do 1 damage to the vampire as well as sending it to torpor.

And so on. >Also, note that a strike that does aggravated damage >does not cause loss of blood (15.1 Resolve Strike, pa2), >unless it is doing excess aggravated damage. Well, it can be accomplished, I guess you just haven't run across the means of doing so yet. Tom Wylie rec.games.deckmaster Network Representative for aahz@hal.com Wizards of the Coast, Inc.
