Has anyone compiled a list of the Vampires which don't exist in canon background? And which ones don't make sense. IE Sir Walter Nash is definitely not the prince of Chicago. While Camille Deveraux could conceivably be part of the background material. Just curious. Thinking about writing some backgrounds and stats for them. Cameron

I don't know how complete this is, but here's a page I've used from time to time in the past to look up a particular WoD vampire: http://www.patman.org/wod/genealogy/wodgenealogy.asp Good luck, and be sure to share what you come up with. Hope it breaks nothing. :-) Actually, the vamps from newer expansions are taken from the canon. For example, every single vampire from Final Nights can be found in one White Wolf book or another. Whereas I can't remember *any* vampire from the original Jyhad that came from Vampire: the Masquerade canon. Seems to me that: - Jyhad/Vampire base set had all non-canon. - Dark Sovreigns and Ancient Hearts had both canon (Etrius, Al Ashrad) and non-canon vamps. - I don't know about Sabbat. Had some canonical vamps though (Gratiano), so it has to be at least half-canonical. - from Final Nights onwards it seems to have been all canon, all the time. (not sure about Bloodlines though) Anyone here who owns every single V:tM book ever made, and would care to comment...?

Yeah, on closer inspection the site says something about how it'll soon include Montreal by Night (a sourcebook that was released many years ago), so it's safe to assume that the site only covers early stuff. Anyone know of a better resource for stuff like this? Maybe WW will release some kind of anthology once the WoD is officially over. Matt Morgan

Here is a complete list of all the Canonical Vampires. Note this list does not contain many vampires from the White Wolf Fiction, but by definition they are not Canonical, even though some of them are in the card game, Enjoy! http://www.pen-paper.net/wod.php?op=npc&npctypeid=1 David Wilson

Mostly it's the early expansions which are the most troubling. As some else pointed out the later ones are full of official vampires. The sets which are most troubling are Dark Sovereigns Ancient Hearts The Sabbat where they have a mix of canon and non-canon vampires. That's where I could use the help. Thanks everyone. CM SNIP

The diablerist would be an 11-cap, not an 8. The rule seems to be that generation = (15 - capacity) for most vamps, though there are exceptions, e.g., Xaviar who is 7th gen but shows up in VTES as a 10-cap. I suppose Gratiano could be an exception, but it seems like he's a big enough canon vamp that he should have the "right" capacity. (I guess Augustus Giovanni would be another exception... shouldn't he technically be a 12-cap after eating Cappadocius? Though of course that ruins game balance, so he has to cap out at 11.) Pat

Capacity appears to reflect a combination of generation, power, and sect influence. This explains why Anastasz di Zagreb has an equivalent capacity to Lucita even though he is two generations removed from her (ninth and seventh, respectively). It would also explain why Camarilla Inner Circle members have capacity equal to Methuselahs such as Ur-Shulgi and Ezmerelda. -sleeve

Tzimisce was said to, but it turned out he/she/it never was. Gratiano sure never did any fancy display of any antediluvianish powers. On the contrary, it seems he have kept a very low profile. But, OK, I confess I haven´t read Gehenna or any other recent sourcebook. From the top of my head, the vampires from the first three expansions that THEN was "canonical" were (and the books in which they was first mentioned): Dark Soveriegns: Wilhelm Waldburg (Berlin by Night) Francois Villon (World of Darkness 1st Edition) Queen Anne (World of Darkness 1st Edition) Etrius (Not sure, might be first mentioned in Clanbook Tremere 1st ed.) Ancient Hearts: Al-Ashrad, Amr of Alamut (Not sure, maybe Clanbook Assamite 1st ed.) Bindusara, Historian of the Kindred (Not sure, might be from World of Darkness Second Edition) Kemintiri (Kindred Most Wanted) Thetmes, Caliph of Alamut (Not sure, maybe Clanbook Assamite 1st ed.) It is also quite clear that some force had altered the memories of Montano, Gratiano, and all of the other childer of Lasombra so that they remember the events differently from reality. It never said who was responsible for the alterations, but it would (at minimum) had to have been a vampire of the 4th generation. Might have been Lasombra himself or might have been one of his childer or even another 4th gen. Pat

Can't say if this information was accounted for when designing these two specific vampires, but both diablerists didn't resume properly their attempts to "become Antediluvians" when it comes to "canon" background. Lasombra has reformed its body in the Abyss. Cappadocius' soul escaped. Neither Gratiano nor Augustus are "complete Antes".

I looked them up online once, though I can't remember where, and only remember that Jorge is from The Chaos Factor, as is good ol' Huizi. The Chicago circle of Blood Brothers are canon, from Under a Blood Red Moon. Ublo-Satha is from the 2nd Chicago By Night book, which is why I know that she's a "she" and not a "he." [ quoted text not captured ] Augustus is powerful since he "diablerized" Cappadocius, but it's not exactly old. He's been a vampire for less than 900 years and a "Antediluvian" for less than 600. There are more strange cases in Jyhad, like ur-Shulgi - more than 10,000 years old, 4th generation, messenger of Haqim himself. Everytime I play with him I feel unworthy since I can't imagine myself as Haqim ;-)

Somebody said to me once that Alexandra is Callisti Y Callisto, sire of Rafael de Corazón. He has been an Inner Circle member in the past while Alexandra was travelling through Asia (backstory of de Corazon in Children of the Inquisition), and apparently came back to grab what's hers ;) Leandro seems to be the Leandro described as an "old methuselah", as someone else has posted before. Gwendolyn does ring a bell in my mind, but I couldn't find anything about her in my books. Arika, Harrod and Stanislava are complete mysteries to me. > Except maybe Madame Guil, aren't all of the CE justicars canon? (at least > with respect to the fiction, I don't know all the RPG source material). As posted before, Madame Guil is canon. Lucian is described as a very old and extremely secretive vampire, mentioned in Gehenna even as a possible Antediluvian, so we can't say that the old Lucian from Jyhad base set is canon. Ulugh Beg and Democritus seem familiar also, but maybe that's just because of their rather evocative names. Or maybe I've seen them as Sire in some character's sheet... Absimiliard appeared this way on WoD 1st Edition and remained a mystery until Transylvania Chronicles, I think. Or maybe some 2nd edition clanbook...

> Does anyone know anything about Cock Robin? Best art in the game... > > John Eno, wiped out all the vampires in Pittsburgh and declared himself prince It is some very cool art! In the WW fiction, Cock Robin is the successor to Petrodon, the murder of whom was one of the primary catalysts to the events of the Clan Novel series. (modern, not dark ages) He also makes a brief - but very dramatic - appearance in the third book of the Clan Brujah trilogy... but I don't want to say any more than that, it would spoil a good scene. Progeny of Smiling Jack (but not in the usual way). The prophesied "Last Daughter", as referred to in the Book of Nod. The artwork for Cock Robin in Children of the Night (a Chris Shy picture) doesn't make him look like a chicken. In this art, he looks more like a clown, extremely pale complexion and an exaggeratedly pointed chin. However, the origin of his name is from a poem called 'Who Killed Cock Robin?' in which the aforementionedly-deceased Cock was definitely a bird. Who killed Cock Robin? I, said the Sparrow, with my bow and arrow, I killed Cock Robin. Who saw him die? I, said the Fly, with my little eye, I saw him die. Who caught his blood? I, said the Fish, with my little dish, I caught his blood. Who'll make the shroud? I, said the Beetle, with my thread and needle, I'll make the shroud. Who'll dig his grave? I, said the Owl, with my pick and shovel, I'll dig his grave. Who'll be the parson? I, said the Rook, with my little book, I'll be the parson. Who'll be the clerk? I, said the Lark, if it's not in the dark, I'll be the clerk. Who'll carry the link? I, said the Linnet, I'll fetch it in a minute, I'll carry the link. Who'll be chief mourner? I, said the Dove, I mourn for my love, I'll be chief mourner. Who'll carry the coffin? I, said the Kite, if it's not through the night, I'll carry the coffin. Who'll bear the pall? We, said the Wren, both the cock and the hen, We'll bear the pall. Who'll sing a psalm? I, said the Thrush, as she sat on a bush, I'll sing a psalm. Who'll toll the bell? I said the bull, because I can pull, I'll toll the bell. All the birds of the air fell a-sighing and a-sobbing, when they heard the bell toll for poor Cock Robin.

Some take on sick or feral animal features, somewhat like Gangrel, but more mangy in appearance. The 'Children of the Night' picture is way off of his character description, another testiment to Christopher Shy's inability to draw a Nosferatu (hell, even Casino Reeds looks more like a bloody sasquatch). In fact Robin's primary goal in the novel appears to be discovering who was involved with killing Petrodon and enacting vengance on behalf of the nossies. He shows up on page 198. -JTP
