Ah yes. Taste of Vitae. Great card for combat decks. BUT -
There's nothing that says you can only play one per combat!
That's right, Crusher and Marty Lechtanski can get into combat with 5
blood each, whack each other good with Potence, and each double taste,
ending up full! Yum.

Peace Curt,
I believe this would fall under the 'not using the same card within an
action' rule (or at least the spirit of it). Just like I don't think that
you can play two Undead Strengths in the same round for +4 damage.

There's no inherent restriction against using the same card more
than once in a combat. The restrictions are in place against action
modifiers and reactions, but not combat cards. If you have cause to
play more than one Open Grate in a combat, you're perfectly free to do
so.
Now, Undead Strength is a strike, and you can't play more than
one strike in a round unless you get additional strikes. However, if
you play Undead Strength and then an Acrobatics, you're perfectly free
to play another Undead Strength. But they would be sequential, not
cumulative.

Each starts with 5 blood, rips off a signpost (3 hand) and does an Undead
Strength (+2 hand) for 5 points. Each is now at 0 blood and double tastes
for 10, ending at 9 (capacity). Yes, either could do more with the right
cards, but that's not germane.

Eh? Signpost + Undead Strength = 2xUndead Strength?
Eh? Not using the same Action Modfier/Reaction = Not using the same combat card?
The Example is perfectly legal and greatly acceptable.
Throw three Well-Aimed Cars on the second round, if you have a Blur and a
Manuever.
Press three times with Dead-End Alley if your victim keeps cloing Grates on you.
Prevent six damage with three superior skin of Rocks.
All legal.

That rule applies to action modifiers and reactions but not to combat
cards. In general you can pitch multiple identical combat cards at once.
Sometimes they will have no effect (multiple Torn Signposts). You ARE
restricted to one strike at a time, but you could Additional Strike and
then use another US. You are also restricted to one additional strike
card per round. Sideslip is the only combat card specifically restricted
to one a round.
I have no problem with the spirit of a vampire breaking multiple grates
(Open Grate) to get out of a trap (multiple Boxed Ins). The problem with
multiple Tastes differs from that of most multiple combat cards - it isn't
just gross, it's decidedly bizarre as well.
If Sideslip needs a restriction, Taste certainly does.

Peace Scott,
I was refering to using two Tastes of Vitae in the same combat round. Check the
second line of the post I quoted from Curt.

Peace Curt,
I have to diagree with the "you can pitch multiple cards" that "will have no
effect" idea. Because you automatically replace cards in Jyhad, you aren't
allowed to just throw cards away for the hell of it; there had to be a reason/
need to. No, the rules don't explicity state this, TTBOMK, though I haven't
checked recently, the spirit of the rules is clear enough. You aren't
supposed to 'play' cards unless that card play actually accomplishes something
other than being a free discard. You have a discard phase, discard then.

This (multiple maneuvers or presses) isn't what I was talking about.

If what you originally posted is legal, then it certainly does.

Perhaps that should be a rule, but it isn't. There are specific rules
prohibiting you from ditching useless stealth and intercept card; the
existence of those rules shows you can ditch cards otherwise.
You can still only play cards when legal, of course. No Pulling Fangs
during a bleed and such.
>> If Sideslip needs a restriction, Taste certainly does.>If what you originally posted is legal, then it certainly does.
Under current rules, it's definitely legal. Errata for Taste is much more
appropriate than changing the rules of the game.

Actually, I'm not so sure about this. ToV says "...gains all the blood
lost...by the opposing vampire...." This implies that the blood moves
directly from, say, Crusher to Marty. Marty can only gain the blood
Crusher has lost--no outside blood enters the transaction. Playing two
ToV's does not increase the amount of blood Crusher is losing, so I would
argue that it can't increase the amount of blood Marty gains.
(If, in contrast, the card said "...gains THE AMOUNT OF blood lost..."
that would be different--in that case I would agree that the blood
probably would come from the blood bank, and so you could conceivably
play several cards and get plenty o'blood.)

Offhand I don't see anything in the rules which would stop a minion from
playing multiple Tastes of Vitae during a round, though I would argue that
it violates the spirit of the card ;) I will check on that, though.
Just remember that a vampire can't use it if it's on its way to torpor...

Actually, I believe it states in the rulebook (as one of the examples,
even) that during the damage prevention sub-phase NOT MORE THAN ONE of
the same card can be used. ie: if your vampire (w/ sup. Fortitude) was hit
for 3 damage and you had 2 Skin of Rock and 1 "Other Prevent Damage Type"
cards in your hand, you could only use 1 Skin of Rock and then the 1
"Other Prevent Damage Type" card in your hand (or a "Different Prev. Dmg"
card if you picked it up when you used your Skin of Rock).
Perhaps the Taste of Vitae, if it is used during the dmg. prev.
subphase is subject to the same restrictions automatically. hmm.

Not in the rulebook that comes with the cards, nor in the updated rulebook
WotC put out later. From [15.1] pg.33:
"During this sub-phase, damage prevention cards can be played. You may
play these cards one at a time until all damage is prevented or until you
don't wish to play any more. You cannot play more cards than are necessary
to prevent damage. If a damage prevention card or effect blocks more
damage than is being dealt, the extra prevention is lost and cannot be
applied toward future strikes. For example, if a vampire is dealt three
points of aggravated damage, you can play one card that prevents two
damage and immediately after that another that prevents two damage. (Note
that the vampire will not go into torpor for aggravated damage at this
point, as it is considered not to have been damaged at all.)"
Also, none of the examples have any reference to damage prevention. (Unless
you consider a dodge damage prevention, which it isn't).
So perhaps you can use two Taste of Vitae under the same non-restriction.
(Which you can, according to Tom, even though this violates the "spirit"
of the card, BTW).
