Forgive me if someone has already brought this up, but I don't want to sift through all the whining and moaning to find out. Given a Rafastio Ghoul using Burst of Sunlight, he will indeed recieve one point of aggravated damage per card text. However, I'm unclear on why he recieves this aggravated damage as a vampire. In other words, I'm not sure why the damage resolution rules check the source of the damage (a Burst of Sunlight played by the ghoul as a vampire) before dealing it to the ally (who would, if not treated like a vampire would treat the damage as normal. Can someone point me to an appropriate ruling/rule in the book? Thanks. Lactamaeon.

However, I'm unclear on > why he recieves this aggravated damage as a vampire. Damage resolution is part of strike resolution. During strike resolution, ie during the resolution of the Burst of Sunlight, the BoS treats him as a vampire. [6.4.1] Combat Sequence Determine Range: Use maneuvers to set the range to close or long. Strike: Announce and resolve strikes. Press: Use presses to continue into another round or to end combat. > In other words, > I'm not sure why the damage resolution rules check the source of the > damage (a Burst of Sunlight played by the ghoul as a vampire) before > dealing it to the ally (who would, if not treated like a vampire would > treat the damage as normal. I was just wondering why the ally treats the aggravated damage as a vampire would. Maybe I can clarify the question a bit. The card says only that all vampires take 1 aggravated damage, but it is not the card text but the rules which state that vampires go to torpor when they recieve aggravated damage. Likewise, the rules state that allies treat agg as normal damage. So, does the ally treat himself as a vampire with regards to the cards he plays (and the damage that results), or am I just looking at this the wrong way? Lactamaeon.

[ quoted text not captured ] He plays BoS as a vampire. So as a vampire is how he plays BoS. As a vampire, BoS inflicts 1 aggravated to him. As a vampire (not as an ally), that 1 agg sends him to torpor unless he prevents it. The damage is part of the resolution of the BoS play. Resolving that damage is part of that resolution as well. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc.
