LSJ - Q venenation/elder impersonation

i searched for an answer to this one, but couldnt find it. venenation - mask of 1000 - venenation - mask of a 1000 - venenation - change of target is a legal combo as i understand it. but what about Elder impersonation and is the blocking phase divided into "declaring a block" , "attempting to block" and "succesfully blocking" or is it just one phase. I am unsure whether you could play Elder Impersonation, but I'm believe that you cannot (I'm almost certain you can't play it at superior... unsure about inferior). If you could play Elder Impersonation, it wouldn't matter, because the block is already successful, and combat will occur, unless you play Change of Target (or similar card).
