Tournament report: Aggressive Tactics: Umea Here in Umea we have 6 months of winter. Now in May, you can walk around in shorts and t-shirts for the first since august. Yet, some prefer to lock themselves up in a basement a whole Sunday to play cards. Must be a bunch of strange people… Anyway, here are the methuselahs: Mathias Olsson (me) Lasombra/Kiasyd toolbox Robert Holmberg Tzimisce wall w. specials Tomas Gustavsson Gangrel princes with angry wolves Fredrik Nordensson Tzimisce wall Fredrik Andersson Toreador vote Sven-Johan Westman Ventrue law firm Samuel Eriksson !Brujah fight/vote Mathias Renmark Lasombra s&b Andreas Gustavsson Dominate bleed Johan Landström Malkavian s&b Erik Torstensson Baron possession Andreas Johansson Blood Brothers Torrance fight Fredrik Ljungberg Nosferatu princes (bloat & some votes) The highlight of the qualifying rounds must have been when poor Andrea Giovanni with the Soul Gem got bought by the Nosferatu in a Hostile Takeover. The Baron had nothing to do without his favorite toy! Others include a Renegade Garou with an Ivory Bow chasing Malkavians. Johan had a Far Mastery in his hand, but only Leandro was able to act at the critical moment, and the bastard has inferior dominate! In another round the Lasombra was near dead thanks to the Gangrel. The Nosferatu was the third player left. He called a Protect Thine Own on Gratiano with Arika, the Gangrel agreed (with Stanislava & Katarina), but got screwed when Suhailah called a Kindred Restructure and switched places. (Wasn’t it a nos deck?) The final Fredrik Ljungberg 10 VP Andreas Gustavsson 8 VP Mathias Renmark 5 VP Erik Torstensson 4 VP Mathias Olsson 3 VP I was lucky to have reached the finals (with points tied), but I didn’t think I would last very long. I thought I was doomed to be the prey of Erik’s Baron deck. However, I ended up as his predator (!). I don’t know how the others reasoned, but now I had a deck with no defense and very little pool management to start chewing at. Seating: Andreas- Mathias O- Erik- Mathias R- Fredrik I was seated after Andreas dominate deck, which had a build up a terrible reputation during the day. Although he bled me for 13 pool, I was never near being ousted by him. I influenced my smallest vampires, and the deck was nice to me and gave me wakes/deflections. Ingrid Rossler (controlled by Andreas) got stuck in the Society of Leopold/hunt loop. By the end I had bled Erik for about 20 pool, but this Sunday belonged to The Baron. He started with Rudolfo Giovanni who equipped with the Soul Gem and in round 4, when it was The Barons time to act we knew which way it was heading. At the end of the round Le Dinh Tho , Kanimana Belghazi & Isabel Giovanni had joined Erik’s ranks. By this time he had both the Dreams of the Sphinx and a Visit from the Capuchin in play, and the rest of us sat with six cards, due to Jan Pieterzoon. However, the heavy bleeds had been deflected to the Nosferatu, so there was still little chance to win (if my grandprey would be the first one to take a VP). If Andreas deck hadn’t let him down he would have tried some heavy bleeds, which I would have deflected. Combined with a heavy bleed round of my own I might have brought the Baron down. But that was only in my dreams. Round 5 was uneventful, but in round 6 Erik ousted both Mathias R and Fredrik. Round 7 saw the death of Andreas and the round after that it was all over. Erik’s crypt was empty and The Baron took his necromancy buddies to an “all death-all night”-party and told them tales about how to die fast and come back to do it again. Thanks to everybody who entered and we’ll see each other again at the Camarilla pre-release. /Mathias, prince of Umea The winning deck: Deck Name: Some shit from the internet that I tweaked Created By: Erik Torstensson Description: Crypt: (12 cards, Min: 19, Max: 31, Avg: 6,50) ---------------------------------------------- 1 Agaitas AUS for NEC 6, Harbingers of Skulls 1 Andrea Giovanni DOM NEC pot vic 7, Giovanni 1 Anisa Marianna Lopez aus FOR NEC QUI 8, Harbingers of Skulls 1 Carlotta Giovanni dom NEC obf POT 7, Giovanni 1 Egothha AUS FOR NEC obf 7, Harbingers of Skulls 1 Gillespi Giovanni aus DOM NEC POT 7, Giovanni 1 Gisela Harden aus dem FOR NEC 7, Harbingers of Skulls, Priscus 1 Isabel Giovanni DOM NEC pot 5, Giovanni 1 Kanimana Belghazi AUS DOM NEC pro 7, Nagaraja 1 Le Dinh Tho aus dom NEC 5, Nagaraja 1 Rudolfo Giovanni NEC 3, Giovanni 1 The Baron dom FOR NEC OBF THN 9, Samedi, 2 votes Library: (70 cards) ------------------- Master (27 cards) 1 Barrens, The 8 Coroners Contact 1 Dreams of the Sphinx 1 Elder Library 8 Minion Tap 2 Parthenon, The 6 Vast Wealth Action (20 cards) 10 Force of Will 10 Possession Action Modifier (12 cards) 8 Call of the Hungry Dead 4 Daring the Dawn Equipment (2 cards) 2 Soul Gem of Etrius Combo (9 cards) 9 Spectral Divination

You don't need a Ventrue to bid. That was the beauty of it. My grandprey, the Ventrue, played a Hostile takeover on Andrea who had the Baron's toy on her. (My grand-predator) Erik was running alittle low on pool and I played a gain/vote/bleed deck so I had plenty to give. I knew the Baron could get really nasty if he got his combo working (he swept the final table with it....) so I took the chance to save Erik from being ousted while at the same time gettin' control of the Soul Gem. Worked out just fine, I got a TW in that game. I'm a bit frustrated on my deck in the final, had 10 Vp's coming in but my deck failed me miserably and failed to produce minion taps. /Fredrik Ljungberg
