...Only one week later... Last weekend's Western Canada North American Championship Qualifier Tournament, held in lovely Edmonton, Alberta, was a tremendous success. We had sixteen players, all locals (though invitations were extended to Princes and players throughout Western Canada and a few northern states; I figure these folks either fear the open countryside that surrounds Edmonton because it's full of Lupines, or simply are not ready for the calibre of play they would encounter here in Champion City 8>)), including five players new to our group. Welcome to the big time, gentlemen! After two preliminary rounds featuring games that were both concluded quickly and decisively and games that went on for almost the entire two-and-a-quarter-hour time limit, we had our five finalists. Nelson Knight, who had attained two Game Wins with seven Victory Points, had to bow out of the finals to go fight crime or something, so the final table setup was... Kevin J. Wiebe's "Anarch Revolt (Mixed Clans)" bleeding Aaron Jeffery's "Malkavian antitribu/Salubri antitribu Vengeance of Talbot's Chainsaw of the Righteous (did I get that right?)" bleeding Rick Barnard's "Tzimisce Garburator" bleeding Jason Switner's "Cock o' the Walk (featuring Cock's Flock)" bleeding Shannon Armitage's "Mostly Lasombra Bleeding in the low Teens." This was a quick one, kids. To make a short story even shorter, his prey struggled gamely, but Kevin's Anarch Revolts and Antediluvian Awakenings took out Aaron, Rick, and Jason in rapid succession. By that time, though, they had whittled down Kevin's defences enough for Shannon to take him out after three turns of massive bleeds. Final results: 1st Place: Kevin with 3 VP 2nd: Shannon with 2 VP 3rd: Rick with 0 VP (4 VP in the Premlinary Rounds) 4th: Jason with 0 VP (3 VP, 88 TP in the Preliminary Rounds) 5th: Aaron with 0 VP (3 VP, 78 TP in the Preliminary Rounds) There were copious prizes to be had by all who attended, including Bloodlines and Camarilla Edition boosters, promo Crypt and Library cards, and swanky event-exclusive t-shirts for the top ten players. Thanks to everyone who participated in this huge event and helped to make it a success. Jason Switner Toreador Primogen of Edmonton Presenting, The Winning Deck! Deck Name: Anarch Revolt (Mixed Clans) Created By: Kevin J. Wiebe, Prince of Edmonton Description: This Anarch Revolt deck is extremely nasty and aggressive. The key to its success is to get The Parthenon, Anson, and Rumors of Gehenna into play as soon as possible. With them in play, you will have 3 master phase actions and be able to quickly use the many master cards that are in this deck. This deck will make all players lose pool every turn. And with the many Dominate bleed cards, along with Misdirection, Seduction, and The Sleeping Mind, you will be able to bleed your prey and ensure that he or she is the first player to be ousted. One of those things that probably should have been changed but nobody bothered. We can use our gas-powered chainsaws in melee, but god forbid we break out the magical one... -- -Snapcase

Talbot's doesn't inflict damage based on the striking minion's strength, so it wasn't marked as a melee weapon. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Correct. That error hasn't risen to the errata threshold. See [LSJ 01-FEB-2002] and surrounding thread: http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=3C5AF24C.FBFD7A6B%40white-wolf.com Nor has it risen to the "adjust in a reprinting" threshold. :-) It's not worth changing the text. (not that I think they will nor should, I'm just trying to get a feel for things here...) [ quoted text not captured ]

Was Rowan Ring a melee weapon in the old Jyhad printing too? I don't even have one around to check. -- -Snapcase

It is indeed a Unique Melee Weapon.
