We just had a little debate come up here. At a local tournemant, the
rulebook was interpreted in a way I'd never thought of...
"A minion may be equipped with any number of equipment cards."
The rule judge interpreted this to mean that in a single equipment
action, you could equip a minion with as much equipment as you wanted, as
long as you paid for it all. I REALLY felt that this was messed up, and
wanted to get a ruling here. Tom? Anyone?

Nothing wrong with that, put a Flamethrower, Flak Jacket, IR Goggles and a
Hawg on a guy all in one action, as long as you got the blood to pay for it.
What's wrong with that?
[Maybe I'm a little liberal as far as what's legal, but that's okay, cos the
rules are the same for everyone. I like hard-and-fast games, and if you're
running roughshod over everyone, chances are they are running roughshod over
you as well.]

Really, really wrong. Each action can use at most one card for the action,
plaus any number of action modifiers.
The card used for the action may be:
An action card.
An ally card.
An equipment card.
A retainer card.
A card in play that describes an action.
The rulebook describes the condition of having more than one piece of
equipment, not the act of equipping with more than one from your hand.
It even goes on to say that multiple pieces may be moved from one minion
to another in one action - a statement wholly unnecessary if this was the
case for "normal" (methuselah-paid) equip actions. (Not that unecessary
statements are uncommon with the WotC/DTR set.)
"If sucessful, the equipment *card* is placed on the acting minion"
Card.
Singular.

Peace Purple Kitty,
No, they may only gain one piece of equipment per equip action that the minion
successfully takes. That sentence is saying that any minion may 'posess' (sp)
an "infinite" number of equipment cards at any time, not that you can equip with
an "infinite" number of cards as just one action. An equip action is just like
a find retainer/recruit ally action; one action gains one card (into play).

The rules for equipping minions are, basically, as follows. As an
action, you can add one equipment card to a minion from your hand
("If the equip action is unblocked, the equipment card is placed
on the minion.") Alternatively, the action can be to move any number
of equipment from some minion you control to the acting minion ("More
than one piece of equipment can be taken at one time from the same minion.")
There is no upper bound to how many pieces of equipment a minion can
be holding at one time ("A minion may be equipped with any number
of equipment cards.")

Thank you, Tom. This is certainly the way my friends and I have always
played, and I just needed an official confirmation to prove the judge
wrong next time.

The group I played with came to the conclusion you can equip with as much
as you want. I thought it would be a real problem in game balance at first
but it hasn't. The first time I blocked the attempt of some combat crazed
brujah to equip with a .44, ir, hawg, and rpg combo and he lost all that
equipment to the discard pile.
The end result is this rulling helps vampires with stealth. Generally if
I have a stealth deck I am not a combat monster so at least as we play this
game this rulling works against combat monsters.
I still fell it should be one action one equipment but don't think it
is a big deal.
