a minion enters play...after a few turns, in combat, he deals 19
damage-even though he did not play a single combat card.

Equiped with a Crimson Sentinel ?
[ quoted text not captured ]
Jaroslav Pascek has Depravity played upon him. He equips the Eye of Hazimel.
He Freak Drives. Lucian calls Archon naming Jaroslav. Jaroslav Archon Rushes
Alexandra. He conceals out the Crimson Sentinel. He strikes Majesty and
Pysche!. He strikes Crimson Sentinel for 5, Soul Counter. He plays Blur. He
strikes for 6 and 7. Soul Counter Soul Counter. He archon rushes Arika, same
thing except Pursuit instead of blur. 8, 9 Soul Counter Soul Counter. He
archon rushes Augustus, same thing 10, 11, Soul Counter Soul Counter. He
archon rushes all of the remaining 11 caps, only getting one soul counter
per rush. Then he archon rushes Lolita, plays no cards and he strikes for
19, Lolita plays Blood of Acid.
Or Sargon plays Concordance 17 times. The Bum's Rushes Lolita.

Other than "infinite" or "indeterminate" effects (like Crimson
Sentinel, and like Ecstatic Agony), this is how I come up with dealing
20 points of damage in a single non-combat-card strike:
The acting minion is Jack, the Blood Brother. He has +1 strength.
His controller also controls a Ventrue, and has played an Island of
Yiaros. Jack is made Regent (4 votes => +4 strength)
Jack has been given PRO (and maybe SER).
There is a superior Mark of Damnation on Basil (for a total of +3
strength in combat vs poor Basil).
Jack has Clan Impersonated to !Toreador, been given the Art of Pain (+2),
and then burned the Clan Impersonation.
Depravity is played on Jack (+1).
Jack equips with Bang Nakh (+2).
Jack enters combat with Basil using Coagulated Entity, taking from each
of the other Blood Brothers (+4). He plays Uncontrollable Rage at superior,
for +2 (aggravated) hand damage during this action.
1+1+4+3+2+1+2+4+2 = a strike for 20 (2 of it being agg), with the Bang Nakh.
And oh, does Basil burn.
Is that what you were going for?
(it's 19 when Basil isn't involved, of course)

Eek! I forgot about the Eye.. that makes one more +1, for 21 (20) damage.
Sorry, one more change, making it a strike for 22
(yeah, I get carried away by these "challenges" :) )
The acting minion is Jack, the Blood Brother. He has +1 strength.
His controller also controls the rest of the Torrance Circle, a !Salubri,
and a Ventrue, and has played an Island of Yiaros. Jack is made Regent
(4 votes => +4 strength)
Jack has been given PRO (and maybe SER).

Depravity is played on Jack (+1).
Jack equips with Bang Nakh (+2), and the Eye of Hazimel (+1).
The !Salubri plays Blessing of the Name, and chooses Jack. (+1)
Jack enters combat with Basil using Coagulated Entity, taking from each
of the other Blood Brothers (+4). He plays Uncontrollable Rage at superior,
for +2 (aggravated) hand damage during this action.
1+1+4+3+2+1+2+4+2+1+1 = a strike for 22 (2 of it being agg), with the Bang
Nakh.
And oh, does Basil burn.

don't know if this pops up as the same thread...i forgot two important
cards...
if not, here's the deal again:
after a few turns of playing, combat ensues, minion(no skill cards
played on the vampire) does !32! damage without having played a combat
card...what happened?
[ quoted text not captured ]
Well, since you changed the terms ("no skill cards"), what other
restrictions are there? Can cards be played by other minions, or are
all 32 damage coming from effects generated by this vampire (ie. does
Blessing of the Name count)?
How much "setup" is allowed?
Is the Crimson Sentinel, or other stackable effects, a legal piece of
the puzzle?
Can you make declarations about which minion is attacking, and which
minion is being attacked (for conditional strength-increasing effects)?
Most importantly, how many turns is "a few"? If you have a particular
answer in mind, say how many turns (or at least a maximum).
Spider Killer gets out on turn 2 (from Info Highway), equips Bang Nakh,
freak drives, plays Mass Reality, plays 15 more Mass Realities on subsequent
turns, and on Turn 17 he Freak Drives and Bums Rushes, and strikes for 33.
Is that legal?
Sorry.. I really like these puzzles. But it seems like you have something
so specific in mind, you need to give more info. :)

Hum, stop right here please. Crimson text :
"Unique melee weapon. Strength+1 damage as a strike. If this weapon
successfully inflicts damage on an opponent in combat, add a soul counter to
it at the end of that round. This weapon does one additional point of damage
each strike for each soul counter on this card. Remove all soul counters
from this card if another minion gains control of it."
"At the end of the round", so it's Psyche = New combat he needs to play,
additionals don't add up !! And what's the deal about having to rush big
vampires, was it just for fun ? Because you gain counters no matter what
minion you strike...

You see, what really happened is some hapless vampire got 16 Mark of Damnations
played on him (15 at superior, 1 at inferior), and Smudge (1 strength) whacked
the guy really hard. Now he just has to try to figure out what to do with 16

Repeat 11 times:
Ramiro plays political Struggle on <random Cardinal>
<random Cardinal> goes to torpor
<random other vampire> rescues <random Cardinal>.
End repeat.
Then Ramiro gets into combat.
Tap the Island of Yiaros.
Ramiro punches for 34.

Wow !! Never realised Ramiro was that fearsome !!! ;-)
You could at elast have chosen Talley for the example, now at least we would
understand why he was chosen to (try to) protect Monçada from his wayward

Cursed Card text! But yeah that works just as well. Well, when I thought you
could gain multiple counters in a round you needed the 11 caps for the first
three rushes because you put smaller cap vamps in torpor on the first
strike. Actually you still do if you want to minimize rush actions.

The aggravated damage portion only effects strikes made with his
hands.
If Jack strikes with the Bang Nakh, none of the damage will be
aggravated.
Uncontrollable Rage modifies the damage that the vampire inflicts with
a hand strike. It doesn't modify the vampire's base strength. So, if
the vampire strikes with Scorpion Sting, he inflicts 1 (base) + 2 agg
(Rage) + 1 (Scorpion) damage, for a total of 2 + 2 agg damage. If the
vampire strikes with a Bastard Sword, he inflicts only 1 (base) +1
(Sword) damage, for a total of 2 damage (the Rage doesn't modify the
damage, since it is not a hand strike).

I think you really should add something like: no combat before this
one ensued, and the minion in question does this 32 damage in one
round. Also the opposing minion doesnt play any cards. or something
like this
i gotta go to work now, but ill try to make a guess w/o these

Lazverinius has a Depravity, a Crimsom Sentinel, a Flak Jacket and an
Ecstatic Agony He is also clan impersonated to a !Toreador and has an Art
of Pain played on him. Base hitting for 7. Enters combat with Gwendolyn.
Gwendolyn hits for one and prevents all but some of the damage, Lazverinius
prevents the damage with the flak jacket. Second round Lazverinius hits for
8 (CS soul counter). Gwendolyn plays a Torn Signpost, 2 Fists of Death and
a Pushing the Limit smashing Lazverinius for 10 points of damage. She
prevents all but one or two of the damage dealt by Lazverinius increasing
his base damage to 9 (two soul counters). In the third round Lazverinius
hits for 19 damage. 3 from his original base damage, +1 for the depravity,
+2 for the art of pain, +1 for the Crimsom Sentinel, +2 for the soul
counters on the CS, +10 for the Ecstatic Agony.

I think this quiz is a bit too open-ended to have one correct answer.
For example, it doesn't rule out help from other players (Frenzy),
intervention from other vamps you control (Save Face), or cards played
by the opposing vampire (trap, undead persistence).
My suggestions:
** Ambrosius gets a Meat Hook. Rush. Opposing Vampire plays Undead
Persistence. Fight for 32 rounds.
** Ex Nihilo vamp (with meat hook), rushes Ambrosius and plays
superior Weather Control. Combat continues for an infinite number of
rounds. The game times out, with both combatants taking (and ignoring)
infinite damage each round.
** Every player in the game has a stupid number of Freak Drives and
Wolf Companions in their deck. On turn 5, Angus the Windswept plays
Shepherds Innocence, gaining control of 30 wolves. Rush. Fight for 1
round.
** Crimson Sentinel, rush, Taste of Vitae and Freak drive. A lot.
** Richter rushes a famous Raven, Burning Wrath + pulled fangs, freak
drive, rescue. Lazverinus rushes again.
Raven plays Trap, inf. Drawing out the Beast, and then Undead
Persistence a couple of times. Laz plays nothing. Fight for 8 rounds.
Raven cops 32 damage and is back in torpor, but, to her benefit, Laz
is now too low for Freak Drive + rescue).

Isn't the correct card text:
Put this card on a ready Toreador antitribu. The vampire with this
card gets +2 strength during combat?
Where does that make tAoP fizzle if the minion is no longer a
!Toreador?

hm. looks like i didn't account for a lot of cards, and thought some
cards were not stackable(mark of damnation, f.i.) or forgot about
(political struggle).
looks like i learned from posting this ;)
that goes for:
no previous combats. the vamp is independent. you control only one of
each given card, no skill cards, no cards played by the opposing
minion's controller(the only one beside you) that ACTIVELY increase
the damage . 36 damage is done in one strike, no combat cards played.

getting there....
p.s. most of the used cards were named already, the biggest chunk is
missing though. and some of the cards named can NOT be stacked, and
are affect vampires of ANY clan(ritual challenge/art of
pain/concordance)

That still allows the Political Struggle angle (just now you have to
end with a Clan Impersonation: <some Indy clan> before getting into
combat) and have to torpor/burn the target vote-holder some other way
(Protect Thine Own, Nosferatu Performance Art, etc.)

OK...
The rules as far as I know them:
1. 19 damage in one strike
2. No Crimson Sentinel
3. No combat cards played by this minion.
4. 'a few turns' of setup
Start with Parthenon, Rumors of Gehenna, Island of Yiarosa, an 11-cap
Baali and
some vampire in torpor.
1. Call the Great Beast, with FOR, SER, other discipline of
your choice
2. Clan impersonate the Great Beast to Toreador Antitribu
3. Freak Drive, equip Bang Nakh, FD, equip Eye of Hazimel
4. Next turn. Master Phase: Art of Pain, Regent, Depravity
6. Play Mark of Damnation on opponent's vamp, Basil.
7. On opponent's turn Basil attempts diablerie. Wake and block with
the Great Beast using The Deadliest Sin.
So we have:
8 base strength(4 base + 1 eye + 1 depravity + 2 Art of Pain)
2 Bang Nakh
4 tapped Island of Yiaros
2 Mark of Damnation
2 Deadliest Sin
+1 Basil special
-------------------------------
19 damage
there ya go

This is beginning to feel a lot like some of my college classes when the
professor is "fishing" for a particular answer. He asks a question and a dozen
people answer with valid answers that are synonyms of his "special word" but
none is exactly that "special word." I've always hated classes like that when
all the questions are so leading. People can think for themselves, you know?
Similarly, perhaps Mr. McBathan would like to spend a little more time thinking
about his question before posting it, along with who knows how many addendums
and other modifications. It seems quite likely that Mr. McBathan thought of a
way to do a lot of damage in combat, poses a question to see if anyone can get
the *exact* solution he came up with, and wants some sort of acknowledgment
about how clever he is.
Let's take a look at his "new criteria":
>he vamp is independent.
LSJ already covered this one about CI'ing at the very end.
>you control only one of
>each given card
Many minion cards won't actually be controlled by you. You can still play 10
Political Struggles or 15 Mark of Damnations because as long as they are on a
vampire you don't control, they are controlled by the controller of the
respective vampire.
In addition, you can still have 31 Concordances on your vampire, as long as you
control only one (give control of the others to other players via Succubus
Club).
>no skill cards
This still allows Sanguine Instruction, Infernal Pact, Infernal Familiar, Vial
of Elder Vitae, Camarilla Vitae Slave and Ian Forestal as ways to get access to
other disciplines.
Care to try again?

I'm unclear as to why these sorts of "how do you achieve a really stupid effect
you'd never see in a real game" threads get so much play.
I don't find it clever on anyone's part that someone can rattle off ways to
generate an irrelevant scenario.
Much more clever would be suggesting good combos or ways to include good combos
into various deck archetypes.
But, I guess other folks find it interesting given how often these sorts of
threads generate numerous responses, and it doesn't do much harm.
*Shrug*
