Sorry ! No, you didn't forget. Google Groups, in its infinite wisdom, removes everything in a subject between [ and ]. Don't ask me why. Non-broken newsreaders show your "[TWD] blah blah blah" just fine. HG

What Janne means is that, when newsgroup posting via Google Groups, Google removes '[' and ']' and everything inbetween from propogating out to other news servers. Except it doesn't. The original post in this thread has [TWD] in it on both Google Groups and other news servers. For reasons best known to Google, they hide the [TWD] when you see the post turn up on the summary page for the newsgroup, but show it when you look at the individual post or thread. The [TWD] is very definitely then propagated out to other news servers - the original post in this thread very definitely says [TWD] on the handful of news servers I have access to. However, when someone replies to the post in Google Groups, Google has a tendency to then remove [TWD] form the Subject of the reply - so a subject of "[TWD] Blah" just becomes "Re: Blah" in the reply. That post is then shown on Google Groups without the [TWD] in its subject, and that's also propagated to other news servers. I'm not 100% sure what would happen if someone hit Reply to a thread in Google Groups and then manually added [TWD] back in. -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D YOU ARE IN ERROR.
