Rotschreck [Jyhad] Cardtype: Master Master: out-of-turn. Play when a minion attempts to use aggravated damaged against a vampire, whether successfully or not. Combat ends before damage is resolved. That vampire is put in torpor, tapped, with this card on it. During the vampire's next untap phase, burn this card instead of untapping the vampire. What if the vampire with Rötschreck Untapped during next untap phase ("burn this card instead of untapping the vampire")? So, does the Rötschreck remain on the vampire forever or something or does it burn during next untap phase?

So, does the > Rötschreck remain on the vampire forever or something or does it burn > during next untap phase? He can't untap as normal at the start of his next untap phase. If he gets untapped by some mechanism (Movement of the Slow Body or Alexandra's special ability, for instance), then that's fine. Rötschreck will still be burned as normal at the start of the untap phase (when all the vampire's controller's cards are untapped). -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) VTES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. No. You must attempt to strike with the aggravated damage. If the opposing minion is able to play a Drawing Out the Beast, that will prevent you from using your Ivory Bow, and he will have no aggravated damage to worry about, and you will not be able to play Rotschreck. See the ruling quoted here: "Rotschreck is played when the attempt to use aggravated damage is announced. If the attempt is in the form of a strike, Rotschreck is played during the strike announcement phase (before any damage prevention can be played). It can be played after the other strike is announced, however. [LSJ 19990217]" Carpe Noctem. Yes, if you've chosen "hand strike" as your strike and the range is close (and have a strength of 1 or more - dealing 0 aggravated damage won't qualify). -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) VTES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. And will he go to torpor before the damage is resolved?? So if the opposing minion strikes, it doesn't damage my minion??? [ quoted text not captured ]

Yes. The opposing minion, usually the acting minion in a Rotschreck situation, will get to declare their strike, but neither strike will resolve, because Rotschreck ends the combat once an attempt to use aggravated damage is made. Yes, by card text. > So if the opposing minion strikes, it doesn't damage my minion??? If combat ends before strike resolution, then he won't even strike. A strike that doesn't occur won't do any damage. [ quoted text not captured ]

LSJ

take...@my-deja.com wrote: > If the combat is at long rangem the minion use wolf claws, I guess > that it can´t use Rotschreck, right????? No need to guess: Rotschreck - Master Out-Of-Turn * Cannot be played in response to an announcement of a strike (or other effect) that is not effective at the current range.
