What happens when both DotB and HG are being played in a single combat? My guess is as follows: The Gargoyle is the acting minion: Since the acting minion can play cards first, he can play High Ground. DotB can still be played, but it doesn't prevent the gargoyle being at long range. The press and equipment part still applies. The Gargoyle is NOT the acting minion: Since High Ground is NOT a maneuver when used for its second text (the set range to long part before range is chosen), its effect still applies after the other vampire has played DotB. That one only prevents maneuvers to long, but the Gargoyle never maneuvered to long. It was there all along. Again, the press and equipment part still applies as normally. This works exactly the same, I suppose, with Fear from the Void Below.

[ quoted text not captured ] Correct. Drawing Out the Beast doesn't restrict setting range, just maneuvering (and equipment and pressing). > This works exactly the same, I suppose, with Fear from the Void Below. Not really the same, but Fear OF the Void Below's range effect is also unaffected by Drawing Out the Beast (except in the Obfuscate usage). FotVB doesn't set range, it changes the default range of each round. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. DotB says I can only use maneuvers to cancel maneuvers (as card text). Does that mean I can only move back to long assuming the vamp that played DotB maneuvers back to close? Or does DotB simply mean "cannot maneuver to long range".

Most recent card text for DOtB: "Only usable before range is determined on the first round. During this combat, opposing vampire gets +1 strength, but he or she cannot use maneuvers to maneuver to long range, cannot use presses to end combat, and cannot use equipment. A vampire may play only one Drawing Out the Beast each combat. As above, and the opposing vampire takes 1 damage during the press step each round. This damage cannot be prevented." --Colin McGuigan
