Greetings :) Can anyone inform me about -how- you become a DCI member? Their page seems to have information about sanctioning a tournament (Crusade Adelaide is being planned for 30th October hopefully) My main problem is that I have never played tournaments and none of my coterie has ever played any V:TES tournaments so am unsure about whether I would be allowed to be a judge at one but we don't know who else to get as there hasn't -been- a V:TES tournament here yet, as far as we know. The other problem is, do all the players have to become DCI members before they can play at the tournament? The DCI site, as I said, has information about tournaments, or how to become a higher level member, but not about basic membership as far as I could see? Do we need to do all of the above or can we just run the tournament based upon DCI rules and then submit the results to V:EKN? The DCI site seemed to not even show any ratings for V:TES. The link to V:TES ratings (once I realised that the second 'netrunner' image was actually the V:tes link as the wrong image had been used ) seemed to not work quite right and when i finally stumbled across some results it said there were no ratings for V:TES players in North America let alone anywhere else. Am a bit lost. Trying to organise this tournament but am not sure how to get the ball rolling. I will email Jennifer Clarke Wilkes at WoTC I guess? If anyone can give advice on how to best get this first tournament organised though I'd appreciate the help as this is my first attempt :) If this goes well, will then hopefully get regular tournaments going every 2 months next year. By the way, having recently started organising weekly games as part of my job as Prince of Adelaide, we have started to get people playing outside of my normal coterie. This has led to one or two differences in playing style most of which we have sorted out through the rulings and errata etc. One action that some of the older players from pre-v:tes card days seem to like playing though is the placing of master skill cards on vampires that are still uncontrolled. This then costs them extra pool to bring them out as it increases their capacity but my own coterie had never realised this was possible. Thus, my question here is, -is- it possible? ;) Couldn't find a reference to this anywhere that we could see. Mention that you need some "DCI Registration cards" and they'll send you some. Then, at the tournament, have the players fill out the DCI Registration cards on-site - they'll instantly get their DCI membership numbers, which you'll record on the Tournament Report Form. After the tournament, return the form, together with all of the new DCI membership form stubs, to the DCI for processing. See http://www.wizards.com/dci/sanctioning.asp > If this goes well, will then hopefully get regular tournaments going every 2 > months next year. The DCI also has a form for "periodic" events, so that you don't have to request sanctioning every two months. > By the way, having recently started organising weekly games as part of my job > as Prince of Adelaide, we have started to get people playing outside of my > normal coterie. No. Nothing affects uncontrolled vampires unless explicit card text says so. -- LSJ (vte...@wizards.com) V:TES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast.
