Can stolen blood in combat heal inflicted damage instantaneously to prevent the vampire from going to torpor because of getting too much non-aggravated damage ? Can 1st strikes be dodged, what if the 1st strike is aggravated ? Yes (long-standing errata to both the Jyhad and the VtES rulebooks). > Can stolen blood in combat heal inflicted damage instantaneously to > prevent the vampire from going to torpor because of getting too much > non-aggravated damage? Yes, if you remove the word instantaneously. First, if the blood stolen puts the vampire over his capacity, then the excess immediately drains off. Then, when it comes time to heal damage (or prevent destruction), the vampire can use any blood he has - including blood that he just stole. > Can 1st strikes be dodged, what if the 1st strike is aggravated ? Yes. The nature of the damage of the strike is irrelevant to Dodge. -- L. Scott Johnson (vte...@wizards.com) Official VtES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast. If I don't understand it wrong, it is: step 1: 1st strike step 2: strike step 3: damage resolution and not step 1: 1st strike step 2: damage resolution step 3: strike step 4: damage resolution Thanks, Thomas --------------9C187E5B738461382F424248 Content-Type: text/x-vcard; charset=us-ascii; name="vcard.vcf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: Card for Thomas Stellmach Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="vcard.vcf" begin: vcard fn: Thomas Stellmach n: Stellmach;Thomas org: TU Berlin email;internet: soch...@sp.zrz.tu-berlin.de x-mozilla-cpt: ;0 x-mozilla-html: FALSE end: vcard --------------9C187E5B738461382F424248--

Damage from a 1st strike resolves before damage from a normal strike. That is the one and only reason for performing a 1st strike. In affect it goes: 1. Both parties declare strikes 2. Resolve S:CE 3. Resolve Dodges 4. Resolve First Strikes 5. Resolve Normal strikes Note you do not declare your 1st strike first, you resolve it first. And in spite of the names, a dodge is resolved before a First Strike. The way it is written is a bit simplified since there usually is no damage resolution when there is a S:CE. But there is in the case of a Dodge. Thus you can use a Taste of Vitae when Dodging but not when a S:CE is used (an exception is made in the case of Catatonic Fear since it causes a damage resolution phase to occur anyway. I don't like that ruling!!).

Yeah, sorry about that. That was a mis-ruling on my part. I CC'ed you when I realized the mistake, but I guess that message got detoured, sorry. Anyway - I had been overlooking the "after strike resolution" on ToV's card text. You cannot, in fact, play ToV after any S:CE, since there is no combat after strike resolution in which to play ToV. Again, I apologize for missing the boat on that one. [ quoted text not captured ]
