Hi, A question was asked in my playgroup about Undead Persistence vs Psyche. Is there any room to play superior Psyche on a vampire who is in combat vs a vampire that did Undead Persistence? Psyche!: ...usable at the end of a combat when both combatants are still ready. Undead Persistence: ...will not go to torpor until combat ends... AND This vampire is sent into torpor after combat. Due to wordings, I would have a tendency to state that the "Psyching" vamp could start a new combat, since card is still played during combat after the press step. And comparing this to the "Persistent" vamp, the text stipulates twice that the vamp won't go to torpor till AFTER combat "has" ended. But I have doubts about this. Confusing, isn't it? Thanx, GP41.

Yes. And the persistent vampire's trip to torpor will be delayed until after the Psyche!d combat. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Isn't that kind of inconsistent with the new ruling that Psyche "erases" after-combat effects like Catatonic Fear's damage? By that idea, shouldn't the Undead Persistence-ing vampire actually lose the "go to torpor after combat" clause?

The first combat does indeed end before Psyche! is played, so the lick who played Undead Persistence will fall in torpor. Since both combatants aren't still ready, Psyche! can't be played. Why not just use the inferior version to press? -Matt

I should've double-checked. Psyche! is played as combat ends and Undead Persistence puts the opposing minion in torpor after combat ends, so Psyche! is playable here. -Matt
