Hello All,
My new building obsession has become Single minion walls, and I must say
that I am having a lot of fun, with hordes of weenies, I build a wall as
high as my grand prey's ready region. One issue I keep encountering, that
honestly is driving me nuts is
Elder Impersonation.
Seduction.
Does anyone have any strategies for dealing with these cards? Elder Imp
with Forgotten Lab is nigh impossible to stop, and I can't pack enough DI's
into the deck.
I have considered, and even played with an additional static intercept
blocker, but then I get seduction and forgotten lab at the same time.
I am half tempted to put a little chimestry in for Drabas...
All opinions welcome, although I am sure several will not be helpful : )

Since you mentioned Forgotten Labyrinth, I'm going to assume bleeds
aren't the problem here. That leaves votes, and whackiness. For the
votes, I'd say pack more Delaying Tactics. Yeah, DT is not especially
good as vote defense per se, but it's top notch for making the voter
blow all kinds of action mods that he may not have in hand the next time
around. For the whackiness, add more Secure Havens. Beyond that, I
think it's just one of the many weaknesses you have to live with if you
go mono-vamp. It's always going to be a fragile affair, you know.
BTW, since you mentioned Draba.... I've got a Spider Killer wallish deck
right now that slaps on an AUS skill card for the superior Nightmare
Curse and Draba/Eagle's Sight. His +1 stealth special means you don't
have to waste as many card slots supporting the actions he does take.

A card that I've been thinking about, which really
shouldn't see play any other time -- Pseudo-Blindness.
Reeeeeeal corner-case, but still. Doesn't stop Calls
from the Hungry Dead, doesn't stop --

Um, put Fata Amria on their minions? : )

PS: Dave, you or any of the MI crew who want to
network for Qualifier lodging, please let me know.
Looking forward to seeing you in our time zone!

I don't have such a problem with the votes, I am running atonement, and the
FL takes it out, kinda a nuisance. I run a Vox Domini and DI mainly for
votes, plus +1 intercept is abundant.
Here is a question, Shilmulo Deception, If the vampire is seduced, they
technically can't play the reaction cards to gain the intercept, so I think
that will not work. Thoughts?

Well, the more you play up the mono-blocker angle, the more you're going
to see those cards, since mono-blockers is what they're there for.
That being said:
Iron Heart can stop a Seduction being played, but limits your crypt
choice, mostly to people who aren't good mono-blockers.
Draba. Even if you can't block, your mono-blocker, or some other CHI
weenie, can negate the effects of a Forgotten Labyrinth and let another
weenie block. You should have plenty of disposable weenies.
Elder Michaelis's Hold. Can be played by any old weenie, and will
definitely put a crimp in their Elder Impersonating if they have to
spend two blood to do it.
Psuedo-Blindness also stops Elder Impersonation and Forgotten Labyrinth.

How many sudden reversals do you have? You're in deep trouble if
someone has used a pentex subversion against your single vamp. If
that's the problem, I suggest that you should also pack some
Golcondas. :-)
While on the subject of Draba, I'd consider Omaya as your vamp of choice.
The weenies are Ravnos, who not only have Draba, but also Animalism for some
nice support actions, and ANI combat is nothing to sneeze at, short of S:CE.
ani CHI weenies.. drop a week at some point, bleeed, bleed bleed.
Oh yes, and then, if youre going just ANI wall route, there's Danielle
Diron.
1 vote for the bribes, ANI FOR and most importantly.. inferior Chimerstry.
Of course, you will need to teach the Chimerstry on her, but hey, cant have
it all can you.
And while youre at CHI, you could reduce the amount of blocking you need to
do. That's right. Sensory Deprivation, baby.
Hmmh. That damn Spider-Killer seems even better idea, with that involved.

Shilmulo Deception: this vampire is now the blocking minion
Seduction: that vampire can't block.
so i think it's more the direct interaction that stops it more than
the indirect 'couldn't have played cards' effect. after all, unless
you are attempting to block you're not allowed to play intercept, so
by that no one could play shilmulo if intercept's been played.

Correct.
A Seduced vampire cannot become the blocking minion.

Unfortunately onlycombat and action cards with dom, dem, ser and obe,
so it doesn't work against seduction :(
I fear, blessing of Chaos wouldn't work as well since the Seduction is
allready played when you get the chance to declare a block
Iron Heart would help at [PRE][POT] against Seduction, but it still
leaves Call of the Hungry Dead for which I know no counter :(
But for Pseudo Blindness and Iron Heart, I would recommend Jeremy
MacNeil with a Chimestry Skill Card.. he also has AUS for Intercept :)

I just realized that your Blocker needn't be the one who plays Iron
Heart.. you could use another vampire for that like Sela who could
bleed for 4 with Iron Glare if you don't need her fpr cancelling, so
you can use essentially any vampire with [chi] as your mono-Blocker,
as long as you have someone with [PRE][POT] against the seductions
(and the Conditionings, Threads and Bondings for what that matters)
Migueal Santo Domingo would be a nice one for that, since he can boost
your other Sabbat Minions Bleeds.. but he is 7-cap, so maybe a bit big
for a pure support vampire :(

Hey Dave,
I've been primarily playing Jack-wall decks with various AUS/FOR vamps
as the mono-blockers for about the last 2 months now so here's my
experience. Seduction and Elder Impersonation/Call of the Hungry Dead
are the banes of the deck's concept and in my experience there isn't
really much you can do besides try to play with multiple potential
blockers. I played Tariq/Tegyrius/Matthias and found that with
Matthias'inherent intercept and some other generic permacept (winthrop
and bikes) I was able to keep the danger of "you don't block" cards to
a minimum because each minion tended to have 1-2 intercept without
playing cards. Now, I didn't see Forgotten Lab that much, but I did
face off with two S&B predators in my last tournament that
consistently generated 3 stealth on most actions coupled with Elder
Impersonation & Seduction "don't block" effects and while it wasn't
pleasant, I did match them pound for pound with transient intercept.
The real problem was the first few turns of the game before I got my
permacept/other minions out. For that problem I can only reccomend
some sort of transfer acceleration strategy. Weenies are nice and
very useful for a wall deck to apply forward pressure, but in general
they can't generate the kind of intercept you need to block someone
who's going whole hog with stealth and "don't block" effects.
Sorry I don't have better advice.
Aramis
PS. Maris Streck, while not a typical mono-blocker, does quite well
in this situation because she can reduce the stealth for others even
if she herself is prevented from blocking via Seduction/EI/CotHD. I'm
more than eager to see people break her ability... :)
