Does anybody have GOOD Assamite deck? I have played many times with my assamites and they are all the time losing. I only use good Quiteus cards like Silence of the dead, Blood Sweat, Taste of Death and so on. I use mainly bum`s rush because it`s better than contract. I have tons of manouvers in my deck but they don`t help. My opinion is that Assamites suck..

[ quoted text not captured ] I had some success using disguised weapon and guns for maneuver, then blur and Quietus for effect (Deer Rifles were best, just in case). This was very nasty when it worked, but not really so effective since it would take a while for the combo to build up, and you were completely worthless if you couldn't get to long range (Equipment destruction really sucked). All in all I agree, the assamites blow. You'll burn a few vampires, but you won't win. Other combat decks are just as brutal, more reliable, and more flexible. I didn't try a deck with all of the rarer closer range aggravated/firststrike stuff though, so maybe that'll go somewhere. Really Rare intensive though. -Jasper > > > -- /\ Jasper Phillips (Pit Fiend) ______,....----, /VVVVVVVVVVVVVV|==================="""""""""""" ___,..-' `^^^^^^^^^^^^^^|======================----------"""""" \/ http://www.cs.orst.edu/~philljas/

Assamites seem natural for a Celerity/Guns rush deck (like the Toreador Celerity/Guns deck, but with rush instead of intercept). I haven't built it, but that's what I'd play. -- Tom Doehne doe...@cse.ogi.edu

I'd have to disagree rather vehemently on this matter; I have had great success with this clan. Equipping with IR Goggles allows the deck to function smoothly, especially if you take advantage of their stealth/combat combinations. One of my favourite tactics is to place a Contract on a big opposing minion (a justicar or prince), then attack them with a bum's rush from a relatively non-threatening weenie. Then the Assamite who has contracted out the opponent plays Hiden Lurker and proceeds to inflict aggravated damage with quietus or pulled fangs, hopefully using khabar: honour to really reduce their health level. As well, if you add enough bleed, (tasha morgan, laptops, etc.) and alamut-a fabulous card for vote defense-the Assamites can do it all: sneak, intercept, bleed, and fight: what else could one want in a clan? Also, they work quite well when complemented by some Nossies who can diablerize and sneak also. Scott

I have been working on an Assamite deck which has been fairly successfull thus far. The general deck concept is this: Use the Assamites ability to deal quick agg. damage, and then use alternatives to diablerie in order to burn the opposition. 1) I use Flash and Taste of Death quite a bit. This puts the poor opposing sap into torpor real quick. 2) Then I use a card that I have rediscovered -- Sacrificial Lamb. Not only does this destroy the minion but you get alot of blood and any equipment they have as well. 3)I have several copies of Vulnerability just in case my minions can't get in. I played against a Brujah guns deck and won using this strategy. It was especially rewarding to steal those nice weapons from the sleeping babies. I don't have any of the rare combat cards or even Khabar:Honor. While other clans may be able to deal more damage and diablerize, the Assamites have an enjoyable flavor that is fun to play with.

The only deficiency I have had with Assamites is that I have yet to see a viable Assamite deck that isn't 100% focused on combat. A player I see regularly called my Assamite deck, "The most aggressive combat deck I have ever seen". I remember this with great pleasure, and I have to say that he is likely right about Assamites in general. He was referring to my ability to _enter_ combat. Assamites can attack vampires in far more consistent ways than most decks (Haven Uncovered, Contract, Bum's Rush (at stealth), Hidden Lurker, Covenant of Blood (!!!)), the trick is to be able to consistently do damage in combat. Most people I have seen have been doing Assamite guns (usually with Disguised Weapon). My own feeling is that this is wasteful. I personally prefer Bang Nakh and (if you have one) Kali's Fang. The trick with the Assamites is to make your opponent fear your damage. With a Bang Nakh equipped, an Assamite is a total threat. If they stay at short, they are looking at blurred Bang Nakh (or Acrobatics for a dodge). If they go to long, they might spit Aggravated death in your face. If they even get into combat, you could Hidden Lurker... Measuring them up against typical combat decks, the card that becomes a great equalizer is Disease. Lower your opponents hand damage almost totally nullifies the Gangrel, reducing them to damage prevention. Brujah and Nosferatu find themselves with reduced damage that can be overcome, but takes most of the bite out of their combat. Tremere have to worry about early aggravated... and unlike fighting Gangrel, they can't manuever away from it. This is not to say that the Assamites are the Penultimate Combat engine, but that they hardly "suck". @ The Corrupter - Adrian Lee Sullivan @ GAT/CS/WS R+++* r(+)>++ # Gamer Coffee-Addict Scripter Author # C(+++)$ USX+$ N++ e+* @#$ Comments ? sull...@cslab.uwlax.edu $#@ tv(+)> X++ b++(+++) @#$ <http://cslab.uwlax.edu/~sulli_al/jyhad> $#@ PS+&-+ PE&-&++ z*+?

(Master for I think one pool, any assamite may take an action to move one blood from the blood bank to this card. During you influence phase, tap to move all blood on this card to an uncontrolled assamite. If you use stealth or some scary weapons (Ivory bow) with a lot of assamites, this can be fairly powerful. Also, enough of them have thaumaturgy that you could also try incorporating that.

The deck completely relies on 1)chicken prey won't block you (especially when you only bleen for one) 2)non combat decks will jam thier hands with combat ends strikes. The combo is high steath/protected resources/spying mission/return to innocence plus alot (and I mean alot) of smack talk and flat out lying "I haven't had a combat card in my hand for the whole game." Like the masika untap deck, it just can't work more than once with the same gaming group. I played 8 games with the straight assamites and they failed...the intimidation and reputation they created was enough to make this deck viable...and fun if you like to talk smack! ___________________________________________________________ All of us are wathcers - of television, of time clocks, of traffic on the freeway - but few are observers. I also disagree with the original poster (hi, Marko!). I have an Assamite deck that does pretty well and is lots of fun to play with. The key to using Assamites (IMHO) is to use long-range combat to deal damage -- lots of IR goggles and Flashes, and use Taste of Death and Blood Sweat to kick ass without suffering damage yourself. If someone counter-maneuvers, you can throw in a Khabar (if you have a contract, of course) or use Disease to render them harmless. Great, except that Hidden Lurker says "blocking minion". If you attack someone with Bum's Rush (or Contract), they aren't considered to be blocking, are they? I ran into this problem myself while trying the same trick... //Petri

The thing about the tactic I was referring to is that usually someone who knows how Assamites like to be at long range will often block a bum's rush, setting themselves up for a lurker... Scott

I would also have to disagree with you. I have never won a game with an Assimite deck, mainly because I run out of cards first (too poor to buy enough). However, I have burned quite a few vamps and ousted 2 people in a large game. With the celerity and acrobatics, they really have nothing to fear from other combat decks.. Kind of hard to blur for additional strikes when you are on your way to torpor. Throw in a couple computer hacking's and people will stop blocking your bleed just to live. Then just bum rush whoever you feel like.

Indeed I have come upon a revelation of sorts: Assamite Gun Deck. Guns, Additional strikes, Tastes of death, etc. Manuvers are built in to the weapons, Diguised weapon prevents your opponents from blocking equip actions and Additional strikes allow you to tack on a taste of death at the end of a good strafing run. Finally and most importantly, not ALL you Assamites need Quietus! Hallelujah! I have seen that you haven't seen the light! Think: Mask of 1000 faces! Though it doesn't always work with contracts it is an amazing tactic with bum's rush cause no one expects it. Based on the Role-playing game. Assamites were cursed by clan Tremere so that the blood of vampires is poisonous to them without special rituals. Diablerie becomes impossible. As Hidden Lurker can only be played after a block and the ensuing combat. Bum's Rush doesn't cause a block so you can't HL. I tried to do a Change of Traget/Hidden Lurker deck till someone noticed that HL is played after a block AND combat. Change of Target CANCELS the combat so I was hosed! [ quoted text not captured ]

No diablerie. No exceptions. 2) The Assamites could originally diablerize, and were in fact the most feared and hated clan of diabolists for exactly that reason and the fact that they believed that it was their sacred duty to slaughter all other vampires of all other clans to 'purify' the rule. After the original Anarch uprising which led to the creation of the Sabbat, the Assamites who did not join the Sabbat submitted to a Tremere ritual which prevented them from drinking vampire vitae and from diablerizing other vampires without taking multiple aggravated wounds, as the alternative to a war of annihilation against the fledgeling camarilla, which although somewhat weaker in it's members, would likely have overwhelmed the Assamites eventually. Happy now? Alec Chang

Robert, I justified putting this up because I will never be able to play it again...and yet there are those in my group who will look sideways and slightly worried whenever they see an assamite on the table. [ quoted text not captured ]

Greetings, I had an assamite deck posted here a couple of months ago and got a lot of good feedback. It was a rush and intercept combat deck. I have modified it by removing all of the intercept and tightening the focus to pure rush combat. Here it is. As always, your comments are appreciated. CRYPT: Al-Ashrad 2 Melek 2 Parnassus 2 Abd al-Rashid 2 Harika Guljan Angel Nik Smudge Total Cost: 57 Avg.:4.75 MASTERS: Elder Library 5 Contract 2 Underworld Hunting Ground 3 Haven Uncovered 2 Celerity Total: 13 COMBAT: 3 Blood Sweat 4 Disease 6 Taste of Death 3 Taste of Vitae 2 Pulled Fangs 2 Fake Out 4 The Khabar: Honor 3 Psyche 5 Blur 4 Acrobatics 4 Sideslip 8 Flash Total: 48 OTHER: 3 Arson 4 Bum's Rush 3 Hidden Lurker 2 Kali's Fang 3 Bang Nakh Total: 15 LIBRARY TOTAL: 63 cards I realize that 63 cards is very low for a combat deck. I expect that I will want to add in another 6 or 7 combat cards and another 10 cards. I may try to put a bit of intercept back in so I can protect my Haven Uncovereds and play The Path of Blood and Covenant of Blood. There will certainly need to be intercept if I am going to use either of those cards. I want to keep the focus on rush though. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks in advance. Doug Dunaway
