Which vampires appear only in starters vs. only in Boosters? White Wolf has listed *all* of the new Vampires on their checklist, yet claims that not all are in the Boosters. -- - Gregory Stuart Pettigrew

[ quoted text not captured ] There are 124 on the checklist and the marketing blurb says there are "100 vampires" in the set (boosters). If this is true, the most likely story is that the 6 new vampires in each starter are starter-only. If true, then this kind of sucks if you want to build a Vlad Rustovich-star-deck, since he's only in the starter once. Same for a White Lilly (there are promos of her, i 'spose) or Harold Zettler deck, for the same reasons. But most of the new crypt cards in the starters are doubled-up, so it won't be an issue except for a small handful of vampires. We can use Tupdog to tighten up the crypt a bit so that we don't _need_ 5x Rusty or whomever, or we can just buy 5 Tzimmie starters. I guess i wanted 5 more War Ghouls and Smiling Jack...wait, i _do_ want those cards! Merlin

Merlin

[ quoted text not captured ] In an effort to better (actually) answer your question, the new vamps in the starters are: Tzimisce: Count Vladimir Rustovich (1x only) Duality (1x only) Yuri Kerezenski Radu Bistri Lady Zara Slatikov Laika !Malk: Bloodfeud (1x only) Apache Jones Harold Zettler, Pentex Director (1x only) White Lilly (1x only) Beauregard Krueller Persephone Tar-Annis !Brujah: Hektor Armin Brenner Father Juan Carlos Urraca Alessandro Garcia (1x only) Smash (1x only) !Tremere: Esoara Frondator (1x only) Janine (1x only) Paul Cordwood Uta Kovacs Lucubratio So if the new vamps are start-only, which the math seems to fit, then these would be the non-booster vampires. While we're on the subject of starter-only cards, several of the reprinted cards that appear in the boosters have added draft functionality only on the booster version. Can anyone confirm if the booster versions of the following cards have added draft functionality: Escaped Mental Patient Guard Dogs Harass Helicopter Infernal Pact Kindred Spirits Recure of the Homeland Vendetta War Ghoul [ quoted text not captured ]

The old demo decks were specifically labeled that they were not legal for tournament use (not "real" cards). Does this apply to the new demos in the Player Kit, or has White Wolf reversed their stance and allowed the new demos to be fully functioning cards for VEKN purposes?

The old demo deck cards are legal for tournament play, as far as I know. They just say "FREE DEMONSTRATION CARD" and have the Pawn expansion symbol so they can't easily be resold, I think.

Surely you're not perpetuating that old urban myth, Eric? :-) The old demo deck cards were labeled that they were not *for sale*. They were ruled to be perfectly legal for VEKN tournament play. I expect that the new demo decks are also legal in all VEKN tournaments. And if I recall correctly, they don't have any special text saying anything about not being for sale, either(obviously they are for sale in the Player Kit). Josh pawned!

Gregory Stuart Pettigrew

[ quoted text not captured ] Third Edition starters come in two "halves". I heard it containted one half from each starter, presumably the one with the vampires. I also heard that the demo decks had special versions of some of the vampires. [ quoted text not captured ]

[ quoted text not captured ] Not quite - each of the four comes with 6 vampires only. One of the vampires in each Player's Kit starter is indeed a 'special version' - the art for each is replaced with a black-and-white sketch version of the portrait. (The vamps in question being Count Rustovich, Harold Zettler, Esoara and Hektor.) Unfortunately, I don't have a full contents list of the PK. > - Gregory Stuart Pettigrew -John Flournoy

How does one actual use a demo deck in the course of giving a demo? Or rather, I gather the demo deck is given to the perspective new player to use but how is he to be instructed to use it? I seem to recall something about the order of the demo decks being important. Are there "demo deck instructions" given with the kit? Fred
