I am very pleased to announce that the V:TES North American Championship in 2008 will be held in Montreal, Quebec. The organizer for the event is Richard Blais, and the team includes Hugues Bertrand, Christian Chénard, Marc Desaulniers, Jean-François Houle, Mathieu Guimond, Etienne Leblanc, Yam Beauchamp, Charles Lechasseur, and François de Champlain. The hotel and venue for the NAC will be Le Nouvel Hotel & Spa Hotel in downtown Montreal (http:// www.lenouvelhotel.com). The cost of a single or double occupancy is $119 a night, and includes a continental breakfeast every morning. The cost for registering for the NAC is to be determined, but should be $40-$50 Canadian. The date for the NAC has yet to be determined. It is important to note that as per a new law, Americans visiting Canada will need a passport to enter the country. Information on this can be found here: http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/regional/regional_1170.html The Montreal NAC team will post more detailed information, including the schedule of events and the Week of Nightmares, as it becomes available. - Ben Peal, US National Coordinator

[ quoted text not captured ] It stands to reason that the date will eventually become available (i.e., be known by the organizers), yes. Perhaps you overlooks this bit of Ben's post: On Aug 13, 11:10 am, benp...@gmail.com wrote: [ quoted text not captured ]

[ quoted text not captured ] Yup. Tucked in there at the end of the paragraph, I just plain missed it. It's amazing actually that rates for the hotel can be pinned down, but not the dates. Good price on hotel though. Congrats to the Montreal team! Montreal was beautiful but chilly when I visited last in October 2001. I don't remember what the summers are like, since it was 1976 when I was there in the summer. Probably hot... If the tournament is in the fall, I would love it to be when a Bruins vs Canadiens game is happening at the Forum, erm, wherever the Habs are playing now (Molson Center?)... I know Ben would too. best - chris

I know Ben would too. Thanks for the suggestion. The organisers will soon create a post where everybody can leave idea about what they would like to do during the week. We're all pretty excited to host the NAC 2008, and we would love to create something amazing that everybody would remember. By the way, here is the address of the Quebec's vtes forum. It's mostly french, but as Montreal has two official language, almost everybody speaks english and french. Feel free to ask whatever comes to your mind! http://www.la-cellule.org/VEKN/index.php

This website has the most current information I could find about US citizens traveling to and from Canada: http://www.amcits.com/passport_requirement.asp The long and the short of it is that a US citizen will need a passport to re-enter the United States from Canada. We should all have passports anyway. They make it a lot easier to play more V:TES. :) - Ben Peal

Given that the current backlog is huge and that Passports are good for 10 years, I suggest getting one as soon as you can afford it. [ quoted text not captured ]

Hope to see a lot you next year. I suspect some people (myself included) would rather be at home for Halloween weekend partying with friends and thus would prefer the 19-26th of October for the NAC. > Richard Blais > Archbishop of Montreal -John Flournoy peon of Chicago
