Betrayer's text is confusing, IMO. When the Methuselah guesses who the betrayer is, does s/he have to guess its NAME, or indicate which among the face-down cards in your crypt is the actual betrayer? How in practise would this work? Suppose for example that I had several uncontrolled vamps that another Methuselah had controlled ..... what would stop me saying, not that one but this one? If I have to say "I have an uncontrolled copy of Lucian", s/he guesses it's number 2 [wrongly] can i shuffle my uncontrolleds around and lay them out again before s/he gets another chance to guess? Also, Betrayer seems to stack [not a unique master]. So if I have multiple master phase actions can i play several? And if I play them all on the same vamp, does the victim Methuselah burn pool for each card, and have to burn an extra pool to remove each card? If it IS stackable then it's actually quite a good card! Hitting your prey for 2-4 with the Recruitment/Betrayer combo would be quite fun. Also, kudos to Xian's mate for thinking up a viable use for Mercy for the Weak! Still doesn't work if your rushing opponent is using IG, though.

How in practise The target guesses the name of the vampire. [RTR 941109] > would this work? Recruitment requires you to show the vampire to all players. *If* you used Recruitment one turn, then had three master phase actions (Anson or Rumours of Gehenna + Parthenon), you could play three Betrayers on the next turn. This would cause a maximum of 6 pool loss to the other methuselah (1 lost and 1 spent for each Betrayer). Since it takes 2 turns, 4 master phase actions, 2 pool, and needs you to have 2 specific cards in play and 4 in hand at a given time, the combo is hardly worth the effort. Not to mention that building a deck around it would be rather silly. Better to play with all the 4-capacity vampires and a few big guys that a lot of people use and then play lots of Effective Managements, Kindred Intelligences, and Betrayers. Even then, it's not likely to be much good. Betrayer can be sort of okay to just throw 1 or 2 in a deck if you're using lots of common vamps, but other than that, it's mostly useless. ...Now maybe if you used 2 Recruitments and put 3 Betrayers split between 2 vamps and then kept playing them each turn... -Chris -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/ Now offering spam-free web-based newsreading
