Ok, this came up in one of our games a few days ago, and we'd like some clarification. Vampire A has Undying Thirst, and is also empty. There is another vampire B (controlled by someone else) in torpor. It's A's player's turn. How exactly does UT work here? What choices are there for A? The interpretation of UT's text was a bit unclear here, at least to us. - does "must hunt" override the "cannot take any action other than diablerie" clause? In other words, is A's choice between hunt or diablerie of B? or - is A's choice between diablerie and doing nothing (staying untapped with zero blood)? In either case: is A's action considered a mandatory one (one that has to be taken before other non-mandatory minion actions)? - - - Undying Thirst: Only usable when a Baali successfully blocks (play before combat, if any). Put this card on the acting vampire. When there are any vampires in torpor that this vampire can diablerize, this vampire cannot take any action other than diablerie (although he or she is free not to take any action). If this vampire must hunt, he or she may choose to diablerize a vampire instead. //Petri

No. He must hunt (or diablerize). > In either case: is A's action considered a mandatory one (one that has > to be taken before other non-mandatory minion actions)? Mandatory. I thought if a minion had two mandatory actions, the minion could take neither, and were 'stuck' until something changed? -- salem (replace 'hotmail' with 'gmail' to email) "In *my* Assamite deck, this would pwn you in teh FAEC, so shut up." " And, if he were empty, there'd be no vampires in torpor he could diablerize, since empty vampires without that clause cannot diablerize.

My first impression of the card matches your ruling that they really do get the choice, but was hoping it worked the other, more convoluted and also more fun, way... ;)

I'm guessing an empty vampire with humanitas and UT must hunt (rather than being able to stay untapped say)?
