Vamp A takes an action that is blocked by Vamp B controlled by his prey.
Vamp B sends Vamp A to torpor in the resulting combat.
Can Vamp A use freakdrive to untap even though he is in torpor?

Yes, if he has superior Fortitude.

You mean you can't play cards if you don't have the blood to pay for
them? Why do people keep introducing such complicated rules?

Lack of smileys is causing an issue, here.
Did you really mean this question to prompt a response, or were you speaking
in jest?

Jest.
(I assumed that labelling "having to have blood to pay for a card to pay
it" as a "complicated rule" would be obvious. I'll be more careful in
the future.)
(But speaking of complicated rules, I was just informed today that if
you don't have enough pool to pay for a card, you can't play it either.
Sigh. I harken back to the good ol' days where everything was simple,
and all the rules fit on a single card, instead of this booklet-thing.)
(Oh, oops. Almost forgot: =P )

I think in some cases you can see the smileys even if they are not really there.
