Quick question, to which I think I know the answer:
Reverend Balckwood strikes with Theft of Vitae, what happens?
1) 3 blood is stolen
2) 2 blood is stolen and 1 normal damage is taken
3) 2 blood is stolen
Relavent card texts:
Reverend Blackwood [Sabbat]
Cardtype: Vampire
Clan: Tremere antitribu
Capacity: 6
Discipline: THA DOM obf
Sabbat Bishop: Reverend Blackwood inflicts +1 damage with any strike
card that requires Thaumaturgy.
Theft of Vitae [Jyhad, V:TES, Sabbat]
Cardtype: Combat
Discipline: Thaumaturgy
[tha] Strike: steal 1 blood. Usable at long range.
[THA] Strike: steal 2 blood. Usable at long range.
Relavant rules references:
[6.4.5] Steal Blood: ... This does not count as damage ...
I think the answer is #3, but I just need confirmation.

Confirmed.
Adding damage to a non-damage-dealing strike has no effect.

I don't think so:
#2 correct ------> card text: inflicts +1 damage with ANY strike
card that requires Thaumaturgy. ok, steal is not a damage card, but it is
not nessesary to be damage. But LOOK : the damage inflicted isn't Ranged.
>Adding damage to a non-damage-dealing strike has no effect.
Why?? 0+1 = 1 .....

Because adding damage to a non-damage-dealing strike has no effect.

It's not "zero" damage. There is no damage there at all to modify.

then why does his card say "any strike"... should it then say "any strike that
requires thaumaturgy that inflict damage"

Sloppiness of card text is one possibility.
They could be following the standard notion that you cannot modify
something that isn't there, also. (e.g. you cannot, as some players
have tried, play Bonding on a political action at superior for the
stealth - since there is no bleed there to modify).

Because it's in the rules.
The standard template is that you cannot add to something that isn't
there.
"Adding damage to strikes which are not damage dealing strikes will not
deal damage (e.g., using Lucky Blow and choosing your Rowan Ring melee
weapon won't deal damage) [RTR 19960221] "
The standard template affects Theft just as much as Rowan Ring.

Well how about
You can't add damage to your chocalate pie strike, cause the attack only
makes you look the fool. It does no damage and just plain can't. If
you throw it harder, it just breaks up into pieces

Taking a slightly more relevant (*grin*) version, try this as a
potential strike:
Levitation
Thaumaturgy
1 blood
Combat
tha: Strike: Dodge
THA: Strike: Dodge, with an optional maneuver
How could you add +1 damage to that?
That's (part of) why damage dealing modifiers only affect damage dealing
strikes.
