Hello, i don't understand well logic behind the actual Temptation's "burn counter" interpretation (by the LSJ response copied below from the "Temptation of your own Vampire" thread), and i would like to get some explanation for it. How i can burn a counter that is not there ? A vampire with zero blood cannot "burn" a blood to play a Chiropteran Marauder at superior, is right ? Then, how a met is supposed to "burn" a counter, if the card (Temptation) has zero counter ? LSJ ? Thanks in advance Emiliano, vekn prince of Rome Francois Alix wrote: > IMHO, I think it is possible to burn zero counter to take control of a > bloodless Vampire... LSJ ? You cannot. You can, however, burn zero counters (not "a counter") if you have zero counters. You can, in general, burn X counters if you have X (or more) counters. If X is zero, you need have only zero (or more) counters. > A vampire with zero blood cannot "burn" a blood to play a Chiropteran > Marauder at superior, is right ? Right. > Then, how a met is supposed to "burn" a counter, if the card > (Temptation) has zero counter ? You cannot burn "a" counter, but you could burn zero counters (if zero is sufficient for the card's effect, which it is for Temptation on a vampire with zero blood). [ quoted text not captured ]

In response to the previous poster, I believe the card text says "burn all the counters," which is different from "burn a counter." Much like you could play a card that says "Tap all vampires" with no vampires in play, but you could not play a card that says "Tap a vampire" unless there were one available. It's a strange distinction, but there you go. - Jason Bell
