Hi I was hoping some of the rulemongers could help out with a question here. The Scenario: I play a Haven Uncovered on Sir Walter. My minion Demaskenos attacks Sir Walter (who is tapped) via Haven Uncovered. My opponent plays a wake with evening's freshness and then an Obedience to get out of combat. (at the time Sir Walter was older than my minion) Question: is this legal? I argued that the Obedience card could only be used if attempting to block something which he did not do since he needed a +1 intercept. My opponent contended that Obedience stated "when about to enter combat" and so therefore he could use it. Who is correct?

>My minion Demaskenos attacks Sir Walter (who is tapped) via Haven Uncovered. Wait. Haven Uncovered reads, in part 'Put this card on any ready vampire.' Yet you played it on a tapped vampire..? Is 'ready' being used to indicate 'controlled'? What if the vampire is in Torpor? -j

[ quoted text not captured ] Tapped has no bearing on ready status of a minion. There are two regions: Controlled and Uncontrolled. There are two areas in the Controlled region: Ready and Torpor. Ready means in the ready area. -- L. Scott Johnson (sjoh...@math.sc.edu) | Hard work has a future payoff. http://www.math.sc.edu/cgi-bin/sjohnson/home | Laziness pays off now. Ready means any vampire in your active region (tapped or untapped). Thus you can put Haven Uncovered on any vamp in the active region, but not on a vamp in torpor. Steve Bucy

Obedience says nothing about blocking - only entering combat. It can be used after a block, or after a successful Rush (provided the Rushee is untapped). [ quoted text not captured ]

Got it. Thanks! I've wondered about this before. -j

Yet you played it on a tapped vampire..? Is 'ready' being > used to indicate 'controlled'? A vampire may be tapped or untapped while in topor or in the ready region. So HU can be played on a tapped or untapped vampire in the ready region. It can not be played on an uncontrolled vampire or one in topor.
