I have always wanted to make a corruption based deck, I finally have enough copies of the corruption card + temptations and some FoC. Which are the best vamps to make the deck?? Thanks for the help. Enrique

Wow. Setites are popular lately. I attribute this solely to anticipation for my upcoming newsletter, to be posted later tonight. Be patient folks... everything in time! Personally, I don't like Corruption as a strategy. It takes too long and the amount of resources expended to steal vampires is prohibitive. Using one Corruption card to steal a Caitiff or Pander is acceptable, but playing 11 Corruption cards to grab Arika is ridiculous. That's 11 cards you did not put in your deck to make room for those Corruptions. It's also 11 actions that could have been bleeds, ie enough to probably oust the Arika player. At this point you have to ask yourself whether you'd rather oust said player or steal her star vampire. Myself, I'd rather oust her. That's the ultimate "denial" in this game... and I ain't talking about a river in Egypt folks! Temptation is another matter. Temptation can be a great and versatile card, if played correctly. Play it on your predator's vampires 95.3% of the time, as they are much more permanent that way. Play it on low-to-mid capacity vampires, preferrably those who tend to have less blood on them. This will ensure that you gain control of them more often. While a tempted Arika (to use the above example) might be nice, if you're waiting 10 or 11 turns to get her, you have to ask yourself if it is really worth it. If however Arika spends most of the game at 1 blood, then by all means go a' temptin. As for the best vampires for both of these cards... well, for Corruption age does not matter so in general you would want the youngest Setites available, unless you go the Venenation route which is probably wise. You might also want to take advantage of certain specials like Kahina, Khay'Tall and Nefertiti but that is an expensive proposition with meagre returns. Nefertiti is the most promising as she can take away some of the need for Corruption cards in your library but at 10 capacity, that's an expensive investment. Some of the Baali cards also take advantage of Corruption counters, but that would require playing Baali, which will likely hurt you more than help you. I hope this has been of assistance to you. We Followers of Set are always more than happy to assist our fellow Kindred, despite the vicious and untrue slanders attributed to our clan. You can always return this favour by agreeing to assist us in some future task, to be determined later. A boon, shall we say? *licks lips with serpentine tongue* Cheers, WES

I bring out Alexandra, and my predator sighs, but figures, he'll dig in anyway. What else is he going to do? Some time later, Alexandra has 8 corruption counters on her, and I have 7 pool. I took great pleasure in pointing out that if those Corruptions had been Night Moves, he'd've ousted me. --Colin McGuigan

[ quoted text not captured ] Another example, no later than last friday night : my predator in the second game (who played my prey in the first but lost most of his minions before he could do any real damage...) corrupts, and corrupts, and corrupts ; he chose Villon, because he came out first and because the vile Setite himself got tempted by the Power. ;-) I first make him lose 6 pool in a turn as a warning with KRCs. He keeps on corrupting. So I change place. I would have killed him right away if he didn't use a Minion Tap right before my change of places, but then I chose him as my grand'prey and finally won the game. All the 8 counters Villon ended up with were useless. Sure, bleeds I could have deflected at least partially, but they would have had an incidence on the end of the game. The corruption counters were just totally lost. Villon is Untouchable ! ;-)) -- Orpheus, from his Mausoleum, Massilia

Basically, all the little ones. I have seen it done two ways: ser weenies plus OBF midcaps. Embrace lots, use inherent stealth, form of the Serpent and Cloak the Gathering to pull the corruptions off. The deck seemed to contain 40 or 50 Corruptions, and recouped via Khobar Towers. I think it doubled up on the weenies and the smaller OBF guys. That was before Embrace got nuked. I recently built a variant, which is (from memory): Basil, Dimple, Normal and all the FoS weenies / midcaps (favouring those with OBF for cloaking). I think my doubles are Celine and Lalitha. It's my only FoS deck without Hesha! Every Brainwash I own (about 20) Every Corruption I own (I think 24 - I gave quite a few away) 3 Summon the serpent 14 (I think) stealth cards Gambit Accepted Info Highway Bleed Galore Tutu the doubly Evil one (extra bleeder and mild defence rolled into one) ...and that's it. Basically, it's not as easy to turbo-corrupt, as it was before Embrace was nuked. Summon the Serpent is my faux-Embrace (I use it to fetch the weenies), and the Brainwashes and bleed are there so that I can corrupt at leisure - I only need to corrupt the little guys, cos the big ones never get out. After the first VP, the deck is pretty screwed, with Gambit Accepted about the only thing it has going for it. I only played it once, and managed to fluke a sweep, but it made my prey cranky. I'm not sure if that's worth it.

Or play it 110% for fun, as the only corruption decks that will work to some degree are weenie corruption decks with 25+ corruptions on the deck, and a few venenations to boot... As the local authority on Setites around here, I have long since given up trying to win with Corruption decks. (last time I did was before the original Sabbat expansion came out) Final Nights gave us Setites some other options, but Serpentis is still the crappiest independent discipline out there. Don´t tell me Quietus is. At least it´s focused and does better in combat than Serpentis does at stealing vamps, allies or retainers... And we still have Eyes of the Serpent, Mummify, Phobia, Tainted Vitae, Mummy´s Tongue and best of all... The Grand Temple of Set!!! wohoo... Grave Robbing is becoming more popular by the minute and add Mind Rape to that and Dominate is as good as Serpentis for vamp stealing. Not to mention Malk decks with Derange and Malkavian Dementia that can steal faster and do some very nasty stuff like Golconda, Social Ladder, etc... Now seriously, try and build a Temptation deck with some Form of Corruptions, and the rest you can change to suit your metagame and/or preferences, like vote, anarch vote, ser/pot combat, ser/for bleed, obf/pre bleed etc.. If you really want to build a corruption deck, have at least 2 Nefertiti in your crypt, she won´t steal the vamps, but she reduces the number of Corruption/Venenations you will need. A Sargon Fragment does the trick as well if you don´t want to pay 10pool for Nefertiti, but then you waste even more actions getting your Corruptions back. Unless you put in Synesios with a Clotho´s Gift with that Sargon Fragment so he can get your Corruptions back and untap to do something else or block. Rutor´s Hand is also an option, as some Setites have Thaumaturgy, just don´t use Kemintiri, she´s the worst 10cap in the game. 10pool for a vampire with no special power whatsoever unless your prey has Vantrue. And if someone else has Ventrue, she gets a special ability along with a drawback... Sometimes I wonder if it´s faith alone in the Dark god that keeps us in the Jyhad.. hehe... My 2cents. It's not like Setites win a lot or anything. Cheers, WES

As Wes previously stated taking Caitiff and Pander are the best bet for using Corruptions. Honestly if you really think about it, this angle isn't really an ousting method, just resource gain/denial. It can be very useful resource gain/denial, but you have to keep a sensible ousting method as the focus. Considering just about any FoS can use Venenation, because almost all have [ser], and that by inherently being FoS you have access to Corruption you have quite a range to choose from. Just take an ousting strategy and throw in a couple of these cards to steal someone's low cap. And considering how common low caps are I seriously doubt you'd have to wait for long for one to show up in a 3-5 player game. So pick a strategy, bleed, poli, combat, maybe intercept, make a 70-80 card deck and run with it. When you find a proper mix tack on some mix of Venenation, Corruption, FoC, or Temptation that complements. I'd still call your deck a corruption deck if it steals 3-4 vamps in a game, even if it is stealth/bleed ousting method - if that makes you feel any better. ps: and don't poo poo stealing a few lower capped vampires. they've won many a game just by their inherent 1 bleed alone, nothing to say about their chump block and sacrificial diablerie potential. it's better to have that on your side than your opponents.

> My most hated card to see used against me is Temptation. > hatehatehatehate. I played a very funny game yesterday on Deckbot. I had a temptation on my prey's Khalil, and both prey and predator (3 players left) were playing Ravnos. Predator played a week of nightmares (to oust his then-still-present-prey, 4th player) Steal Khalil, hunt from my predators vamp with one blood. Heidelburg it off, in preys turn he needs to hunt again, also from predators vamps. they need to hunt mow too...from my preys vampires. I also was playing Gregory Winter and Ghouls from the plaza. It really was blood going everywhere. VERY funny game. W

If you have Venenation, you can make corruption deck without many Corruptions. Use a crypt of weenie Setites plus Khay'tall, Kahina and Nefertiti. Take Serpentis-based actions like Temptation, and if you are blocked, play Venenation and Change of Target. Minion Tap your big vamps as they come out, and have them FSR/Voter Cap and Deflect bleeds. Once you have corruption counters spread around the table, Kahina's inherent vote will become quite useful and Khay'tall's FSR votes will pass easily. You won't steal many vampires, but then again, neither will most regular Corruption decks. Good luck!

Especially if you actually put it in the deck, right? I often find that cards just existing doesn't really help me much. :) Matt Morgan

[ quoted text not captured ] The existence of Wake netted me a VP in last night's game, even though I had none in my deck. FWIW. Unlike Wake, Archon Investigation, Deflection, etc., Specialization doesn't work so well in the deterrent capability for simply existing, though, that's true.

hey -- okay... here's what you do... you build a corruption deck based around kahy'tall, kephamos, and counte ormonde... maybe nefertiti, too, but only one copy of her, two of each of the others... the rest of the crypt are weenies... then you build the library, including just the right number of corruptions and venenations... be sure to include at least 2 form of corruption and 2 temptation... then, and this is the important part: you take all the corruptions and venenations and your feed them, slowly, into the wood chipper... if you haven't got one of those, i guess a paper shredder will suffice... fill those empty card slots with DOMINATE cards... like deflection, redirection, conditioning, graverobbing, dominate kine, far mastery, and that age-old classic, govern the unaligned... then, at the end of the game, lament of how much more stylish it would have been to steal all the vampires at the table, instead of stealing all the victory points... :) peace -- -- khs "eritis sicut dii, scientes bonum et malum..."

"Setite weenie corruption" Description: Corrupt, breed, corrupt more. Use temptations upstream. Try to survive and get at least one vp. I have never got a single vp with this stupid deck.
