So on the way up to the storyline tournament this last weekend, Jon,
Sackett, and I were trying to come up with the best possible "I
Withdraw As Soon as Possible!" deck. What we came up with, this time
was:
6x March Halcyon (1) for
6x Isabel de Leon (3) AUS
1x Dummy Corporation
54x Freak Drive
2x Telepathic Counter
2x My Enemy's Enemy
1x Wake
Turn 1: Influence out March.
Turn 2: Hunt 54 times. Influence out Isabel.
Turn 3: Declare withdrawl (as you only have 6 cards in your hand).
Play Dummy Corp. Use Telepathic Counter, Dummy Corp, and My Enemy's
Enemy as necessary to avoid losing pool.
Turn 4: Withdraw! And take your 1 VP with you!
So obviously, the big flaws are:
-If someone has the intercept (and wherewithall to stop the hunting on
T2.
-If someone has a Rush card after your T3.
-If someone decides to, like KRC you after your T3.
But it is semi likely that you could pull it off, and you can stop
between T3 and T4 a bleed of 4, a bleed of 2, and then 2 bleeds of any
size at all. Strikes me as reasonable.
So what might be a better selection for the 6 non Freak Drive cards?
Anyone?
-Peter
How are you getting that first blood off of March so
that you can hunt? Or can you hunt when you have full blood?

Here in columbus I call this the Icconu deck.
Get your one VP and win, because you left the probably crappy game and
got pizza instead (see Blaze of Glory combo in A game of thrones).

So much for the element of surprise! :)

For grins, I'd replace four Freak Drives with four Burn Option cards
of any kind. I'd also throw in a Leather Jacket for Isabel, due to
its untap ability.

Leather Jacket's no good. once you are in combat, your withdraw
attempt fails. you don't need to actually lose blood in the combat.

1x Secret Passage in place of the Dummy Corporation (which is unique).
Dealing with 3 bleeds should be sufficient and this allows you to deal
with 1 rush.
I guess it's up to you to play the metagame right: Will you be faced
with weenie Presence or weenie Potence? :)

with 4 AUS bounce cards that tap your vampire I think that 1 wake is
not enough.
I would suggest dropping 1 of both and replace them with 1 direct
intervention to counter a rush card, and one with a Delaying tactics
to counter a vote. March can play the DT, and Isabel can bounce twice.
That should be sufficient to with draw I guess. By T3 I guess 1 rush,
1 bleed one bounced bleed and 1 vote will be more then to be expected.

DT costs blood. (stops you withdrawing)
You are guaranteed to have the wake in hand when you need it.
Secret Pssage would be good though -replace 1 T Counter.
That gives 4 Reuction, 2 bounces, and safety from one rush. Still
nothing to protect from votes but I don't think that can be done easily
-you'd need DOM or something.

How about either using Maldavis, or getting a secret passages (for
some rush protection) and a daring the dawn or a day op, to get an
empty vamp in torpor, so you only have to protect one vamp.
Daz expounded:

Need to BURN that second vampire I think. (otherwise they don't need to
rush: they can just diablrise)
How about
6x March Halcyon (1) for
6x Isabel de Leon (3) AUS
1x Dummy Corporation
54x Freak Drive
1x Telepathic Counter
1x My Enemy's Enemy
1x Wake
1x Secret Passage
1x Force of Will
This has the added benefit of coming unexpectedly after 54 Freak Hunts.
You'd have to choose between the Dummy Corp and the Secret Passage but I
reckon it would be good to have the option.
Weakens the bleed defence somewhat but it ought to be enough in the 3rd
turn -only our predator wants to stop you withdrawing after all and you
should be able to see whether they are likely to rush by the time you
have to choose between SP and DC -3 weenie potence or a vote will still
stuff you of course.

Alternatively you can do it with DOM:
6x March Halcyon (1) for
6x Ingrid Russo (4) DOM for
1x Dummy Corporation
54x Freak Drive
1x Secret Passage
2x Redirection
1x Wake
1x Force of Will
2 Bounces
1 Reduce by 2
1 Rush cancellation
And you get to pass all those bleeds to your prey ;)
Don't forget to ask your grandpredator not to bleed if your predator has
any AUS or Dom out.
Anyone done a deck that aims to get a VP before withdrawing?

If the victim is empty, diablerie will not thwart a withdrawal attempt.

Hmm. That is certainly a solid idea. Between 2 Counter and 2 My
Enemy's Enemy, I should be able to survive any bleeds that come my
way, even without the Dummy Corp. The Secret Passage keeps me safe
from a Rush as well. The real question is "Will I get Rushed *twice*
on turn 3?" I could also use Secure Haven instead, but that might get
contested. But probably not on T3.
Oh, wait. I'll have 2 Minions out. Secret Passage only protects one of
them. Doh. It seemed like a very solid idea.

Telepathic Counter doesn't tap you. You can Counter twice (each
reducing a bleed by 2), then bounce with MEE, and then Wake and do it
again. With Dummy Corp, you are saved a bleed of 4, a bleed of 2, and
2 bleeds of any size at all. Pure overkill, but I don't think other
cards will be particularly useful. Maybe a Delaying Tactics too.
-Peter
Ok. A lot of good ideas. As I don't think you can spend blood and
still withdraw (this is correct, da? So no Delaying Tactics), hows
about:
6x March Halcyon
6x Isabel de Leon
1 Secret Passage (to avoid a rush)
54 Freak Drive
1 Daring the Dawn (to get March in torpor at the end of T2 so she
can't be rushed)
1 My Enemy's Enemy
1 Telepathic Counter
1 Wake
1 Surprise Influence
That would protect you from 1 rush, 1 weak vote, up to 2 bleeds.
Surprise Influence is kind of a prayer card, as it only saves you from
2 votes, and even a vamp with pre using Bewitching is going to have 3.
Maybe a Telepathic Vote Counting instead? This strikes me as probably
covering all angles necessary on turn 3.

Telepathic Vote Counting is an action modifier. That won't help you.
Pulling Strings is about the only card you might find use for. You could
use Ingrid Russo or Gloria Giovanni and replace your My Enemy's Enemy with
Redirection. Not really as good, but it's probably your best vote
defense. But if March bleeds with Daring the Dawn, then you might have
the edge, which might be enough to kill that pre vote.
Or maybe you'll be my prey. Most of the time I'd probably just let you
withdraw. Number one, if you don't want to play, I don't want to play
with you. Number two, if I don't have a deck that can rapidly (and I mean
rapidly!) chew through 26 pool, then you're going to be a giant speedbump
that will probably allow my grandprey to sweep the table.
Of course your prey won't want you gone. He might try to stop you from
withdrawing. Probably best to prevent you from withdrawing and Dramatic
Upheaval with you.
Okay, I know you're just kidding. I apologize for taking it too seriously
for a moment there. :)

Delaying Tactics costs a blood, foiling the withdraw attempt.
now to answer the bit from the other end of the thread about secret
passage, it'd be ok if you managed to get March burnt. maybe a force
of will/daring the dawn after her final hunt? although that's two more
cards from your final 7...
so:
secret passage
TCx1
MEEx2
WwEFx1
FoWx1
DtDx1
and a bunch of freak drives.
if you wanted to branch out a bit more, maybe drop the 2nd MEE for
some random PA card. between it and the edge, you might be able to
fail a turn 3 vote..? presumably the person frantically calling the
vote to stop your oust would only have little title-less vamps at that
point. sure, it's no guarantee, but it's a shot.

turn 1 you get march, and maybe Isabel depending on transfers.
turn 2 you play all your freaks, and drop to torpor (or burned) with
march. then get out Isabel if you don't have her already.
turn 3 you announce withdraw attempt and play dummy corp (or secret
passage, or whatever) so it's 'armed' for when people are trying to
foil your withdraw attempt. you don't care if you get bled _before_
you announce your withdraw attempt.

Nah--you need to play it at the start of T3:
T1: Influence out March.
T2: Hunt 54 times. By the 53rd hunt, you have a Daring the Dawn in
your hand (or maybe a Force of Will to just get burned). Your last 6
cards will be your 1 master card and your 5 defensive cards. Influence
out Isabel.
T3: You have a hand size of 6, so you can declare intention to
withdraw. You then play the Dummy Corp (or Secret Passage)and hunker
down and attempt to avoid getting bled, rushed, or voted to death.
T4: You withdraw.
At the end of turn 2, you have played every card in your deck except
for the 5 or 6 that you have left in your hand.
